For the Chiefs December 24th matchup against the Miami Dolphins, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City (Blue KC) and the Chiefs selected KCFX 101 the Fox radio show host Slacker as the Blue KC Chiefs Kingdom Champion. Prior to kickoff, Slacker received on-field recognition and conducted the ceremonial first pass to Tim Grunhard before touring the Chiefs broadcast booth and enjoying the game.

A longtime veteran of radio in Kansas City, Slacker is known for his consistent and dedicated work with local charitable organizations, including Cars 4 Heroes, which supplies military veterans in need with stable vehicles. Every Monday on the Slacker Morning Show, Slacker hosts a live segment with Cars 4 Heroes founder Terry Franz in which they give away a car to a deserving recipient live on air.

"I've been part of Cars 4 Heroes for nearly 20 years, helping to give a voice to those in need of reliable transportation," said Slacker, who first began his involvement with Cars 4 Heroes while working for KY-102 and has continued his involvement with KCFX. "It's amazing to see how peoples' lives can be changed by simply giving them a chance to have transportation freedom."

In addition to his work with Cars 4 Heroes, Slacker also participates in the organization's annual Cars 4 Christmas campaign. Through Cars 4 Christmas, he and the Cars 4 Heroes staff share the stories of 20 military veterans and families and give them cars during special events during the month of December. Many of the recipients are veterans battling PTSD or other combat injuries who are unable to transport themselves to and from medical appointments due to the lack of a vehicle. The gift of transportation allows them to receive treatment and often leads to a better life situation.

"The vehicles given to our veterans or families are a tool that can get them to the next level," said Slacker, whose Slacker Morning Show is one of the highest rated in Kansas City. "Often, after achieving some financial security, many of the cars are offered back to Cars 4 Heroes with the intention of paying it forward."

According to Slacker, who works with a number of other organizations including Give Safe Water, Hands to Hearts and the Children's Miracle Network, the most rewarding part of being involved with Cars 4 Heroes and Cars 4 Christmas is hearing, seeing and even feeling each recipient's appreciation. And when it comes to giving back, Slacker believes it's simply part of what he and everyone should do for his or her community.

"It doesn't take much," he said. "I believe we are all called to help each other in any way we can with our time, our talent and our money."

Familiar with Slacker through their partnership with KCFX, Blue KC was proud to present the popular radio host with the honor of serving as the Blue KC Chiefs Kingdom Champion on Christmas Eve.

"Slacker is dedicated to bettering his community, particularly through Cars 4 Heroes and Cars 4 Christmas," said Christina Lively, Blue KC's Department Vice President of Marketing and Communications. "It's been our privilege to partner with him on the Blue KC Chiefs Kingdom Champion program, and it's an even greater honor for us to recognize him for the good he does for the people in our hometown."
