The Kansas City Chiefs announced on Monday that the club has re-signed unrestricted free agent WR Chris Chambers.
Chambers (5-11, 210) has played in 140 regular season games (120 starts) with Miami (2001-07), San Diego (2007-09) and Kansas City (2009). He owns 518 career receptions for 7,435 yards with 57 TDs and has 44 carries for 373 yards. Chambers started the final nine games of the 2009 season for Kansas City, recording 36 receptions for 608 yards with four TDs for the Chiefs after being claimed off waivers from San Diego. He earned a Pro Bowl berth with Miami following the 2005 season when he recorded career highs with 82 catches for 1,118 yards and 11 TDs. The Cleveland, Ohio native has registered 19 career 100-yard receiving games, including two with Kansas City.
In five career playoff games, Chambers has accumulated 24 catches for 407 yards with one TD. He entered the NFL as a second-round draft pick (52nd overall) of Miami in 2001. He caught 127 passes for 2,004 yards (15.8 avg.) with 16 TDs at the University of Wisconsin. Chambers was a two-time all-state selection at Bedford High School in Bedford, Ohio.
