Still, the purpose is to continue both organizations focus on promoting a healthy community. The event is TMC’s largest health and wellness fair of the year. It will provide free health screenings including: sports physicals, immunizations, blood pressure screenings, weight management screenings, organ donor awareness, vision screenings, dental screenings, diabetes counseling and much more. In addition, there will be cooking demonstrations on healthy food options with similar cuisine available for purchase.
The partnership between the Chiefs and TMC continues to make its mark and help Kansas Citians get healthy. Last fall, the pair shared this message at the Tony Aguirre and Southeast Community centers. Earlier this spring, they also teamed up at the Guadalupe Centers, Inc.’s 20th Annual Cinco de Mayo Street Festival. During each visit, the Chiefs utilized the stage set by the “wellness tour” to reach those ranging in age from childhood through their senior years. All visits include Chiefs personalities under the Chiefs Community Caring Team banner, side-by-side with TMC staff promoting healthy lifestyle choices and practices.
Interactions like this aren’t unique for the Chiefs. In fact, the organization is committed to playing an active role in the community. Led by the Hunt Family, the Chiefs continue to promote the PLAY 60 ideals of eating right and getting at least 60 minutes of activity a day.
The “wellness tour” series comes thanks to the Chiefs and TMC’s “Partners for a Healthy Community” outreach. Truman Medical Center is a two-hospital, not-for-profit health system located in Kansas City, Missouri. TMC can be found downtown at TMC Hospital Hill and at its suburban hospital, TMC Lakewood, located in Eastern Jackson County. Each provides a range of specialty and outpatient services.
