Chiefs Injury Update: Four Players Miss Practice on Wednesday

Posted Dec 6, 2017

Coach Reid provided an update on Allen Bailey, Mitch Morse and others

The Kansas City Chiefs returned to practice on Wednesday afternoon with a crucial divisional matchup with the Oakland Raiders looming this weekend.

Head Coach Andy Reid provided an update on the Chiefs’ injured players that missed practice on Wednesday, including defensive tackle Allen Bailey (knee), center Mitch Morse (foot), linebacker Dee Ford (back) and safety Eric Murray (ankle).

Bailey has been battling a nagging knee injury that he originally suffered against the Dallas Cowboys on Nov. 5. He briefly left last Sunday’s game against the New York Jets with the injury before returning to the game.

“Allen hurt his knee a few weeks back,” Reid said. “He’s doing OK, but it’s a precautionary thing right now and we’re going to rest him today.”

Also dealing with a reoccurring injury is Morse, who left last week’s game early with a foot sprain. The third-year offensive lineman missed five weeks of action earlier this season with a similar injury.

“Mitch won’t practice today with a sprained foot,” Reid said. “He’s the one that came out of the game, but again, we’re evaluating him and just seeing. That’s a day-to-day thing.”

Reid referred to Ford as “day-to-day” as the linebacker continues to recover from a back injury that’s forced him out of commission since Week 8, and said that Murray is “making progress,” but isn’t quite ready to return to practice after missing last week’s game with an injured ankle.

Reid didn’t have an update on linebacker Dadi Nicolas, whose three-week practice window while still on the PUP (Physically Unable to Perform) List ends on Wednesday.

Nicolas suffered a torn patellar tendon in Kansas City’s final regular season game of last year and has been rehabbing from the injury ever since, missing all of training camp and the Chiefs’ first 12 games.

The Chiefs will have to either elevate Nicolas to the active roster on Thursday or place him on season-ending Injured Reserve.
