Governor’s Cup, Other Winning Notes: The Chiefs extended their regular season winning streak against the Rams to five games. Todd Haley became the fifth different Kansas City head coach to register a victory against St. Louis during that streak. The Chiefs are 3-0 in regular season play at the Edward Jones Dome. Kansas City is now 7-0 in regular season games played in the state of Missouri this season. The Chiefs registered their ninth win of the year, marking the first time since 2006 that the club has recorded nine or more victories.


Chiefs vs. NFC West: Kansas City has won 10 straight games against NFC West opponents dating back to 2002, including a 4-0 mark this season. The Chiefs posted a 4-0 record vs. NFC foes for the fifth time in team history (’90, ’96, ’97, 2006 and 2010). QB Matt Cassel is 8-0 in his career as starter vs. NFC West opponents, including a 4-0 mark with Kansas City.

Another 200-Yard Performance: The Chiefs produced 210 rushing yards, the club’s sixth 200-yard performance of the season, the second-highest seasonal total in team history. KC had a franchise-record eight 200-yard games in ’78.

Scoring Defense: The Chiefs have held seven of their 14 opponents to 14 points or less this season.

Jones Joins the 10,000-Yard Club: RB Thomas Jones now has 10,045 career rushing yards, becoming the third active NFL player and the 25th player in league history to reach that plateau. Jones scored his sixth rushing TD of the season and the 68th of his career.

Cassel’s Day: QB Matt Cassel threw his 24th TD of the season, giving him 40 as a member of the Chiefs. Cassel’s streak of consecutive attempts without an INT snapped at 162 consecutive attempts.

Charles in Charge: RB Jamaal Charles registered his fourth 100-yard rushing game of the season and 10th of his career. He produced a career-long 80-yard run in the fourth quarter. Charles scored his fourth rushing TD of the season and the 11th of his career. Charles has 1,303 rushing yards in 2010, the seventh-highest seasonal total in team history.

Takeaway/Sack Stats: S Kendrick Lewis registered a career-high two INTs. He now has three INTs on the season. DE Wallace Gilberry established a career high with 3.0 sacks. He now has 7.0 on the season and 11.5 for his career.

Pope TD: TE Leonard Pope registered his second TD of the season and the eighth of his career.

Long Distance Succop: K Ryan Succop hit a 53-yard FG, tying a career long. He also hit a 53-yard FG at Baltimore (9/13/09).

Colquitt Punt: P Dustin Colquitt registered a 72-yard punt in the second quarter. It tied as the third-longest punt of Colquitt’s career and it ties as the fifth-longest punt in Chiefs history.
