Chiefs move QB Matt Cassel from doubtful to out for Sunday's game

The Chiefs have moved QB Matt Cassel from “doubtful” to “out” for Sunday’s game. Cassel did not make the trip to San Diego with the team.

Cassel missed a full week of practices after undergoing emergency appendectomy surgery. He returned to the Chiefs Training Facility on Friday and attended practice, but did not participate in drills.

Earlier this week, head coach Todd Haley indicated that the club’s practice-to-play policy would be in effect for Cassel.

“I think the policy is that you have to have some semblance of practice,” Haley said.

Brodie Croyle will make his first start for the Chiefs since the 2009 season opener.
