Chiefs Waive Six Players

Veterans Kolby Smith and Matt Gutierrez are part of the list.

The Kansas City Chiefs announced on Monday that the club has waived TE Leroy Banks, QB Matt Gutierrez, DB Andre Jones, OL Nick Landry, OL Jermail Porter and RB Kolby Smith.

Banks caught 34 passes for 462 yards with four TDs in 23 career games (six starts) at Southern Mississippi. Gutierrez has played in six games with New England (2007-08) and Kansas City (2009). He appeared in one contest for the Chiefs in 2009.

Jones saw action in 47 games (41 starts) at Akron, producing 183 tackles (119 solo), a sack, four INTs, 10 passes defensed, seven forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries. Landry played in 40 games (20 starts) at Tulane. He prepped at Westbrook High School in Beaumont, Texas.

Porter spent five games on the Chiefs practice squad last season. He originally entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with New England in 2009. Smith played in 27 games (nine starts) in three seasons with Kansas City (2007-09), rushing 162 times for 540 yards with three TDs and catching 34 passes for 209 yards. He saw action in four contests for the Chiefs in 2009.
