This season will be a special one as the Chiefs mark 50 years in Kansas City. And as they do, they are partnering with other Kansas City institutions to celebrate all that makes this region so special, including the American Royal.

On Thursday, September 6, the American Royal will hold its 10th annual Business and Scholarship luncheon and the featured speaker will be a familiar face to Chiefs fans. Chiefs Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt will join the scholarship winners and business community for the event, which kicks off the American Royal season.

The luncheon will be held at Kemper arena at 11 a.m. and tickets and tables are available by contacting the American Royal at or by calling 816-221-9800. Guests will enjoy some great barbecue and have a chance to meet the Chiefs Cheerleaders and KC Wolf.

The American Royal Association is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) corporation that has been a Kansas City tradition since 1899. Each year more than 270,000 people attend events at the American Royal Complex. In 2011, the Royal was able to give $1.4 million in scholarship and educational awards. In addition to its educational mission, the American Royal generates some $60 million of economic impact to the Kansas City area.

The event will be the first of many building up to the Chiefs regular season home opener on Sunday, September 9 vs. the Atlanta Falcons.
