Kansas City posted a 22-17 victory last week at Arrowhead vs. Minnesota (10/2) for its first win of the season. K Ryan Succop tied a Chiefs single-game record with five field goals, including two from 50 yards. Indianapolis is still looking for its initial win of the season after dropping a 24-17 game at Tampa Bay (10/3) on Monday Night Football.

For the second-straight week QB Matt Cassel posted a 100.0 passer rating, finishing the contest with a 102.7 rating by completing 18 of 29 passes for 260 yards with a TD. WRs Dwayne Bowe and Steve Breaston combined for nine receptions for 198 yards (22.0 avg.) with a TD. Cassel hooked up with Bowe for a 52-yard touchdown pass, the Chiefs longest play of 2011.

LB Tamba Hali added to his career sack total with 2.0 QB takedowns, giving him 45.5 sacks for his career. That total ranks as the fifth-highest tally in Chiefs history, bypassing DE Eric Hicks (44.5). CB Brandon Carr had an interception, the fifth of his career.

Kansas City has recorded 443 rushing yards through the first four games of the season. RB Dexter McCluster has a team-high 164 yards on the ground. Bowe has caught 16 passes for a club-best 292 yards to go with two touchdowns. In the last two games, Cassel has completed 35 of 53 throws for 436 yards with three TDs and an INT for a 102.5 rating. That rating ranks fifth in the NFL over the last two games.

Hali is tied for first in the AFC and fifth in the NFL with a team-high 4.0 sacks. He has 3.0 combined sacks the last two contests. CB Brandon Flowers leads the club with two interceptions while three other players each have one. LB Derrick Johnson has a team-high 35 tackles.

Indianapolis is missing QB Peyton Manning, who had two off-season neck surgeries. In his place, QBs Kerry Collins and Curtis Painter have each opened for the Colts. Painter threw a pair of touchdown passes to WR Pierre Garcon last week at Tampa Bay (10/3).

The Chiefs will enjoy a bye next week (10/16) before traveling to Oakland on Sunday, Oct. 23 for a contest with the Raiders. Indianapolis begins a stretch of three-consecutive road games with a contest at Cincinnati on Sunday, Oct. 16.

Since the AFL-NFL merger, KC and Indianapolis have squared off 20 times in regular and postseason play, with the Colts holding a 13-7-0 advantage. In regular season action, the Colts hold a 10-7 edge against Kansas City. Indianapolis also owns victories in all three of the postseason meetings between the teams: a 10-7 victory at Arrowhead in a ’95 AFC Divisional Playoff Game (1/7/96), a 38-31 win at Arrowhead in a 2003 AFC Divisional Playoff Game (1/11/04) and a 23-8 victory at the RCA Dome in a 2006 AFC Wild Card Game (1/6/07).

Kansas City posted a 5-3 record against the Colts while they were stationed in Baltimore. The Chiefs are 2-9 against the Colts since the franchise relocated to Indianapolis in ’84. Kansas City claimed a 20-7 win in the team’s first-ever meeting vs. the Colts (11/24/85) after the club moved to Indianapolis, snapping a six-game winning streak. The Chiefs are 0-5 on the road vs. the Colts since the team relocated to Indianapolis, including a 19-9 setback at Lucas Oil Stadium last season.
