The Kansas City Chiefs announced today that Dan Crumb has been named the club’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Crumb brings more than 20 years of financial leadership experience to the Chiefs, including his most recent role as CFO of the NBA’s New Orleans Hornets.

In his tenure at the Hornets, Crumb led the club’s accounting, human resources and information technology departments, overseeing the transition of the finance department from Oklahoma City to New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina. In addition to financial leadership, Dan was responsible for compliance with league standards and policies.

“We are very excited to welcome Dan to the Chiefs,” said Chiefs Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt. “Dan has a proven track record of success as a financial officer, and his leadership and experience make him a key addition to our business operations.”

Crumb will lead the finance and information technology departments for the Chiefs, reporting to Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Mark Donovan.

Crumb has been active in many philanthropic endeavors in New Orleans. He is a member of the Boards of Directors for Second Harvest Food Bank, Salvation Army and Café Hope. He has also served as a guest lecturer at Tulane University Law School and Loyola University Business School.

“Dan’s extensive experience as a CFO and his knowledge of professional sports teams will bring significant benefit to the Chiefs and the Kansas City community,” said Donovan. “We’re looking forward to his contributions.”

“I would like to thank the Hunt family for this wonderful opportunity,” said Crumb. “I am eager to work with every member of the Chiefs organization and begin our involvement with the team’s many philanthropic efforts in Kansas City.”

He earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of New Orleans and a Master’s of Business Administration from the A.B. Freeman School of Business at Tulane University, where he remains active in the Alumni Association. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Crumb and his wife, Janet, will relocate to the Kansas City area with their children.
