We spotlight the former TE turned DE from Oregon

The 2013 NFL Draft Spotlight series continues, as we preview one pro prospect per day, right up until the start of the draft, April 25-27. However, none of the reports in this series are indicative of who the Kansas City Chiefs plan to draft, with any of their currently-owned eight picks.

Day 14 of 32

Dion Jordan's draft stock is rising, according to ESPN Draft analyst Todd McShay.

"Jordan is the top pass-rusher in this class, but that's not all he can do," McShay wrote. "His fluidity and range in coverage are rare for a DE/OLB prospect with his length."

The former tight end, made the switch to defensive end at Oregon and flourished, largely because of his speed and length, using his 33 7/8" arms to his advantage when bringing down ball carriers.

Jordan showcased his talent during his final season at Oregon in 2012, recording 44 tackles, five sacks, three forced fumbles, one pass deflection, one pass break up and 10.5 tackles for loss.

He also performed for scouts, general managers and coaches at the 2013 NFL Scouting Combine.

Combine results: Best in his group*

40-yard dash (4.60)*
Vertical Jump (32.5 in.)
Broad Jump (122.0 in.)*
3-cone drill (7.02 sec)
20-yard shuttle (4.35 sec) *

What else should you know about Dion?

* Finalist for Butkus Award (2012)

* All-Pac-12 First Team (2012)

* Led Ducks with 13 tackles for loss (2011)

"Looks like a basketball small forward in football pads with his tall, long frame and flexible joints, looking comfortable in space," according to

"Physical striker to separate man from ball with the arms to easily wrap and finish. Fiery demeanor and has a good head on his shoulders. Good awareness and experience lining up all over the defenses' front-7, even spending time covering the slot receiver and dropping in coverage. Still growing and sky is the limit with his athletic potential."

ESPN Draft Tracker graded Dion Jordan's durability as below average, noting the following:

"In 2012, suffered shoulder injury vs. Colorado, missed next two games and was limited the remainder of the season. Underwent shoulder surgery on torn labrum after the combine (early March, 2013) and is expected to be out three-to-four months."

Jordan's instincts and recognition skills were graded as average.

"Work in progress. Has natural playmaking instincts. Has a good feel for attacking blockers and how to keep them off of his body. Shows impressive awareness and confidence in space for a guy with his frame. Can be a quarter-count late locating the ball at times. Needs to sense when to gear down in order to not outrun the play. Also will get caught peeking inside on occasion when having edge responsibility."
