For the Chiefs rookie class, the first day of OTAs began early - practice begins today at 10:30 AM

Welcome back rookie…now hit the weights.

The Chiefs rookie class reported back to Arrowhead this morning – check that, EARLY this morning – after a mandatory two-week hiatus from Kansas City’s NFL training facility. Upon arrival, there was no time to re-acclimate either, as the wide-eyed troops face quite the schedule for their first day on the job.

Kansas City’s rookie class began their journey to the 2010 regular season in the weight room this morning at 6:00 AM; that’s a full 90 minutes before the first group of veterans who typically make up the “early group” have been arriving for workouts this off-season.

Once their first official strength session as professional football players concludes, it’s off to the classroom with their position coaches to get in some prep work before this off-season’s first all-squad practice session begins.

All rostered players are invited to hit the practice field for a walk-thru at 10:30 this morning (OTAs are voluntary in the NFL, though the Chiefs anticipate having a showing at close to full capacity today), followed up by a 90-minute practice session. Head coach Todd Haley and various Chiefs players will address the media following today’s OTA.

Keep checking throughout the day for updates on the Chiefs first day of OTAs.
