Mock Draft Roundup 6.0: Is there a National Champion on His Way to Kansas City?

Posted Mar 3, 2017

Two analysts have a Clemson WR mocked to the Chiefs in this round

The franchise tag window has come and gone, and it’s also Scouting Combine week in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Both hold weight when it comes to who teams will select in the upcoming draft, and with that in mind, some of the recent mock drafts have shifted a bit.

In this week’s edition, the most popular position being mocked to the Chiefs is wide receiver, and two analysts have the same player—Clemson wideout Mike Williams—headed to Kansas City with the No. 27 overall pick.

Here is a look at Williams, who won the national championship with Clemson this season:

As you can see at the end of the clip, the 6-foot-3 wide receiver has a knack for catching the fade in the end zone, and he even had a touchdown in the national championship game. Williams received first-team all-ACC honors for his 2016 season.

NFL.com likens Williams to former New York Giant and Pittsburgh Steeler Plaxico Burress.

Here’s a look at all eight of the picks for the Chiefs in the latest mock drafts:

“In my latest mock, I had a wide receiver going there and it’s silly because they have weapons, and I think this is the most explosive offense Andy Reid has ever had in his time in Kansas City in the way that he’s diversified," CBS Sports' Will Brinson said. "I don’t think it’s a need pick but it’s definitely something to consider if a guy like Mike Williams—a guy who piled up targets at Clemson, big, physical body, can win the rebound game, falls to them, I think it’s something they would look at.”
