The Chiefs hit the road for their Week 5 matchup against the Tennessee Titans. Leading 10-0 in the second quarter and following an awesome goal-line stand by the Chiefs defense, Kansas City's offense began from its own one-yard line. The Chiefs weren't there long as Alex Smith dropped back and found Donnie Avery down the left sideline for a 41-yard gain. The reception led to a 24-yard FG by Chiefs K
Trailing 10-7 in the second quarter to the visiting Houston Texans in Week 7, Alex Smith scored a TD that still has fans shaking their heads. The Chiefs QB fooled not only the Texans, but also the camera crews and fans, not moving, while holding the ball for nearly three seconds, before taking it in from five yards out for the score. The TD was good enough for an eventual 14-10 lead and the Chiefs never looked back, winning 17-16.
Up 6-0 in the second quarter of their Week 8 matchup against the Cleveland Browns, the Chiefs offense crossed pay dirt, when Alex Smith found Chiefs RB Anthony Sherman for the 12-yard TD pass, Sherm's first-career NFL TD, leading to 23-17 Chiefs win. Scoring Drive: 14 plays, 82 yards in 7:34
Following Sherm's touchdown against the Browns, giving the team a 13-0 lead, Cleveland answered with a score, narrowing their deficit to six points. The Chiefs offense took its very next drive 75 yards in six plays, lasting 1:33, ending with a 28-yard TD pass from Smith to Dexter McCluster. The score gave the Chiefs a 13-point lead, which eventually led to a 23-17 victory.
