How big was this game for you?
“It was probably the biggest to date. But next week we have another big game. We have to learn from the mistakes, capitalize and move forward.”

Why did the Chiefs play with so much emotion today? “I think just being at home and being around our fans, plus knowing what they did to us a couple of weeks ago, we knew in our heart we had to come out and play and leave it all on the field.”

On the mistakes the offense made today: “I mean it’s disappointing, but at the end of the day, we won. It was loud in our end zone and guys couldn’t hear the call, jumping offsides or not playing with proper technique. That happens, it’s football. They have a great defense, but overall we won and I’m proud of that.”

Did you enjoy your battle with CB Champ Bailey today? “He’s the best defender I ever went up against and he told me that I’m one of the greatest he’s gone against. As we battled it out he said, ‘I got his vote and he has my vote’ and he said, ‘My gameplan was to not let you get anything.’ … I think I’ve grown up and I don’t let that stuff bother me. As long as there’s a “W” at the end of the day and I ran well and blocked well, I’m okay with that.”

On his touchdown reception
: “We were on the goal line and they were hoping that we were going to run the ball and we passed it. I just found my way open in the back of the end zone and Matt (Cassel) was looking and I just knew I had to make a catch in the back of the end zone and I came down with it.”

On his reaction to the TD: “That was my first touchdown of the year. The game is ruled by inches, as they all say. So, my big butt got it and I was able to get in as I came down on my elbows. It was a great feeling. I threw the ball in the air and told them to save it. It was a great feeling.”

On today’s victory: “It was a hard fight out there today. No one said it was going to be a pretty fight. We all came together in all phases of the game. Our defense played well. We made a couple of mistakes on offense, but that’s what good teams do, they find a way to win.”

On today’s victory
: “We got our first win in December; this is real big right now. We have some momentum. We have to put this one past us by 12 o’clock tonight. Tomorrow we have to get ready for the Chargers. These games are going to get bigger and bigger now. We just have to keep playing and keep focused. I think the guys know that and we’ll just keep doing what we’re doing.”

On playing Denver a second time and achieving a victory: “The difference is that they had time to prepare for us, they had two weeks coming off of their bye (week). I’m not making excuses. We had a great week of practice. We’ve got to go back to the drawing board. We gave up too many yards on the ground. We have to wrap up and make tackles if we want to continue to have success. This was a good team effort. I can’t complain about it. Everybody was hitting on all cylinders: special teams, defense and offense. When we needed to make the first down, we did. We just played well.”

On the game
: “It was fun to watch our offense go out there and really click. Our defense was stopping them exactly when they needed to. As for special teams, it’s always tough to stop a guy like Eddie Royal, he played a great game. He’s one of those guys that if he gets eight, nine or 10 yards, you’re feeling pretty lucky about it. So we did a good job on him. I’m just glad we’re 8-4, that’s the biggest thing, to just try and win one game at a time right now.”

On the final punt of the game: “The first thing when I got out there, we were trying to milk the clock a little bit, so I just prayed for some peace like I do on every kick, every hold. It’s one of those things that we do it so much in practice that it should be second nature. We said a prayer out there and asked for peace and confidence. When He delivers, we deliver. I’ll remember that moment forever.”

On more passion from Chiefs players today: “You’ve got to get your guy’s back. It’s a division game, so there’s a lot of heat and a lot of tension out there, but it’s all in the fun of the game.”

Are you looking forward to the San Diego game? “This game is behind us. They’re playing great ball right now even though we beat them the first game of the season. They’re a totally different team now. We know what we’ve got to do and how we’ve got to do it. We’ve just got to get to work this week and get it done.”
