Charles’ 107 yards on 23 carries (4.7 avg.) marks his fourth 100-yard rushing performance of the season and the 14th of his career.
Arenas Breaks 1,000 Yard Mark: CB Javier Arenas recorded a 20-yard punt return in the first quarter to give him 1,010 career punt return yards. He becomes only the fourth player in Chiefs history to record more than 1,000 punt return yards. He recorded two punt returns for 23 yards (11.5 avg.) in the game and now has 100 punt returns for 1,013 yards (10.1 avg.) for his career, becoming only the fourth player in team history to record 100 or more punt returns in his career.
Houston Racking Up Sacks: LB Justin Houston dropped QB Peyton Manning for 2.0 sacks (-12.0 yards) in the contest. He now has 9.0 sacks (-60.0 yards) for the season and has 14.5 QB takedowns (-87.5 yards) for his career. He has had five multi-sack performances in his last 16 games.
Flowers Grabs INT: CB Brandon Flowers recorded an interception off QB Peyton Manning. The interception is Flowers’ third of the season, which is a team-best, and the 16th pick of his career.
Succop Knocks Three Through: K Ryan Succop connected on all three of his field goal attempts in the contest. He has converted 23 of 26 field goals on the season (.885) and has made 92 of 111 for his career (.883). It is the third game of the season in which he has connected on three or more field goals and is the 12th time in his career that he has converted three or more field goals in one game. With two more made field goals, Succop will move past K Pete Stoyanovich (93) for third place in team history.
Colquitt Pins Denver Deep: P Dustin Colquitt booted six punts for 272 yards (45.3 gross, 38.7 net) with two touchbacks and four punts inside the 20-yard line. With four punts inside the 20-yard line, he has now landed 31 punts inside the 20 in 2012. He led the league with 27 punts inside the 20 entering this weekend’s games.
Newsome Grabs First Reception: WR Jamar Newsome recorded his first career NFL reception, catching a 10-yard pass from QB Brady Quinn for a first down. Today’s contest marked the third regular season game he has competed in after playing in two contests for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2011.
