Veteran Linebacker Josh Mauga Returns to the Chiefs

Posted Jul 7, 2017

The Chiefs brought Mauga back by signing him Thursday afternoon

After sitting out all of last season with a labral tear in his hip and being listed as a free agent in March, veteran linebacker Josh Mauga has returned to the Kansas City Chiefs. He signed with the team Thursday afternoon.

Mauga, who originally signed with the Chiefs before the 2014 season after spending the first three years of his career with the New York Jets (2010-12), made 30 starts at inside linebacker for defensive coordinator Bob Sutton during the 2014-15 seasons.

During that time, Mauga, who also played with Sutton in New York, had 161 tackles and two interceptions.

Mauga originally entered the NFL in 2009 as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Nevada.
