Biography

Name: Kimble Anders
Position: Full back/Running back
How Acquired: Free Agent, 1991
Career: 1991 – 2001
Birth Place: Galveston, Texas
Employer: Galveston Ball High School in Galveston, Texas

The Galveston, Texas native played collegiate at the University of Houston where he produced 261 carries for 1,359 yards and 16 TDs to go with 115 receptions for 1,718 yards and 11 scores.

He played for the Kansas City Chiefs throughout his career. During Anders’ tenure in Kansas City, the Chiefs were not known as a strong rushing team, but Kimble proved his value to the team both as a powerful blocking back and a very effective receiver, which earned him three trips to the Pro Bowl in Honolulu. Kimble was voted the 1997 “Unsung Hero” achievement award.

Kimble saw duty in 124 regular season games with 95 starts with Kansas City. He signed with Kansas City in ’91, where he would spend the next decade.
A three-time Pro Bowl pick following the ‘95-97 seasons, he amassed 490 carries for 2,261 (4.6 avg.) and nine TDs. Despite never producing a single season with more than 400 rushing yards, he ranks as the 12th all-time leading rusher in franchise history. Anders also recorded 369 receptions for 2,829 yards (7.7 avg.) and nine TDs to rank fifth on the Chiefs career receiving chart. Those 369 catches surpassed the previous running back standard of 288 set by Chiefs Hall of Fame inductee, Ed Podolak. Kimble holds the Kansas City Chiefs “All Time Leading Receiver” record by a running back.

Anders led the Chiefs in receptions from ‘94-96 and in ’98 and owns a franchise record by producing five consecutive seasons (‘94-98) with 50 or more catches. His most prolific receiving campaign came in ’94 when he hauled in 67 balls, the seventh-highest seasonal total in team history. In seven career postseason appearances (five starts), he accumulated 21 carries for 70 yards and caught 19 passes for 188 yards and one TD.

In 2000, Anders saw action in 15 contests, registering 76 carries for 331 yards and two TDs to go along with 15 receptions for 76 yards. He produced a career-long 69-yard run and a personal-best two rushing TDs in a 54-34 win vs. St. Louis (10/22) as he registered the second 100-yard rushing day of his career with a 13-carry, 102-yard effort vs. the Rams. His finest day as a pro came in the ’99 home opener vs. Denver (9/19/99) when he tallied 22 carries for a career-high 142 yards. His best year as a ground gainer came in ’95 when he piled up 398 yards as the Chiefs led the NFL in rushing.

Kimble is currently  the Athletic Director for the Kansas City, Missouri schools and a running back coach at Mid America Nazarene. Kimble is also a vital member of the community with his organization, Running Back Giving Back. Kimble resides in Blue Springs, MO
