Upon Further Review: Five Quick Facts About the Chiefs' Loss to the Chargers on Thursday

Here are a few things to know about Thursday’s loss

The Kansas City Chiefs lost a heartbreaker to the Los Angeles Chargers on Thursday night, 29-28, as the Chargers took the lead with just four seconds left in the contest.

Here are a few quick notes about the game.

1. Defensive end Chris Jones had a monster game

Jones was already in the midst of a breakout season heading into Thursday night's bout with the Chargers, but this performance was something else. The third-year defensive end tallied 2.5 sacks and a ridiculous eight quarterback hits on the night, which are tied for the third-most by a player in a single game since the stat started being recorded in 2006.

Only Houston Texans' defensive end J.J. Watt has recorded more in a single game, doing so twice.

Additionally, as Sports Radio 810's Soren Petro points out, Jones extended his sack streak to 10 games – prolonging his single-season NFL record and matching Simon Fletcher and DeMarcus Ware for the longest overall streak in the history of the league.

2. Tailback Damien Williams put together the best game of his career

Williams was both productive and efficient on Thursday night, picking up 123 yards of total offense (74 receiving, 49 rushing) on just 16 touches. He also found the end zone twice on the night and now has four touchdowns in his last three games.

Thursday's performance marked the top game of Williams' five-year career in terms of total yards.

Speaking of running backs named Williams, rookie tailback Darrel Williams tallied the first touchdown of his career on Thursday.

3. Those scores helped the Chiefs make some franchise history

The Chiefs have scored a league-most 499 points this season, which are the most in a single season in franchise history with still two full games left to play. It's also the sixth-most points through Week 15 in NFL history, trailing only the 2013 Denver Broncos (535), 2007 New England Patriots (523), 1961 Houston Oilers (513), 1983 Washington Redskins (510) and 2012 Patriots (506).

4. The Chargers made some plays when it counted

Los Angeles erased a 14-point deficit late in the fourth quarter to pull off the victory on Thursday, dealing Kansas City its first loss at Arrowhead Stadium this season.

Chargers' quarterback Philip Rivers completed 10-of-16 passes for 126 yards and a pair of touchdowns on Los Angeles' final two drives before finding wide receiver Mike Williams on a successful two-point conversion that pushed the Chargers in front.

It snapped the Chiefs' nine-game winning streak over the Chargers, which was the longest stretch of success for either team in the near 60-year history of the series.

5. Williams put together an impressive performance on Thursday

The second-year receiver caught a career-high seven passes on Thursday night for 76 yards and a pair of touchdowns, not to mention the game-clinching two-point conversion in the contest's closing seconds.

It was the third multi-touchdown performance of Williams' career and his second in the last four weeks.
