Jay Valai enters his first NFL season as a defensive quality control coach with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2018.
Prior to joining the Chiefs, Valai served as the defensive quality control coach at the University of Georgia for two seasons (2016-17). During his time at UGA he worked closely under Georgia's Defensive Coordinator Mel Tucker and Head Coach Kirby Smart. In 2017, Valai helped the Bulldogs to an SEC Championship and their first National Championship appearance since 1980. Valai was also an elite recruiter helping Georgia aquire the No. 1 recruiting class in 2018 and No. 2 in 2017.
