Andy Reid's Friday Presser Transcript

The team's head coach talks Kendrick Lewis, A.J. Jenkins and more

OPENING STATEMENT: "Alright, (for) injuries, Dwayne Bowe is the only one to mention. He did not practice today. He's got a strain, or a spasm in his groin and we'll see how it goes. We look forward to the challenge of playing the Browns. We know what kind of football team they are. Our guys have had a good week of studying them and getting themselves ready for a good football team, coming in here. Again, we welcome them to Arrowhead Stadium. I know the fans will be out of control, like they always are, which we appreciate. Time's yours."

Q: What about preparing for Jason Campbell?

REID: "Listen, I've got a ton of respect for Jason. I'm very familiar with him. I've had teams that have played well and teams that haven't played well against him. The best thing I can say is I have a ton of respect for him. (He's) big, strong, physical, smart. He puts the ball out fast, accurate."

Q: Will Dwayne Bowe be a game-time decision?

REID: "We'll see. It's day-to-day. We'll just see how he does. He was feeling a little bit better today than he did yesterday, which is good. We'll just see how he is tomorrow and we'll go from there."

Q: Was it something he did in practice?

REID: "Yesterday. Yeah, right towards the end of practice. He practiced most of yesterday's practice and then, right toward the end, he tweaked it a little bit, so he backed off."

Q: What about A.J. Jenkins' performance so far?

REID: "You know, I like what I've seen in A.J. He's worked very hard to make sure he gets the whole offense. He came in when we had it all in and that's a tough thing. He's worked hard and he's been in every game. He's had an opportunity to play, which he needs. He's a young guy; we're talking about his second year. We'll just see how things go for him."

Q: Is he more comfortable inside or outside?

REID: "He's done both for us. Yeah, he's done both. I can probably tell you he's been more of an outside receiver. So, that's where he's had most of his time out there."

Q: With the news about Dwayne Bowe, are you looking for more ways to get Donnie Avery involved?

REID: "We try to spread it around as much as we can and give everyone an opportunity. We'll see how it all works out. We're not doing anything until we see who is playing here."

Q: In Kansas City, how have you been able to do this in just eight games?

REID: "Listen, we've got good players here and good coaches, who work very hard. The players have been just diligent. We know it's important every day to get better. We're not where we can be. We just have to stay focused on our job and just keep working. We've kind of put that record thing aside. We're trying to think 1-0's instead of 7-0's or 8-0's, wherever we're at."

Q: Why doesn't the team do the traditional warm up all together on the field?

REID: "It's what I've done in the past. Kind of what I came from with Mike Holmgren. They get a little stretch in the locker room and then they come out and, or they come out well before the game and even warm ups, and they'll (warm up). That's how we go."

Q: It seems like you're trying to keep pregame time on the field to a minimum.

REID: "Just enough to get them ready. Get them ready so that they can come out and play fast and obviously not pull anything. We want to make sure they're nice and loose. They've been good with it. Just keep it going that way."

Q: How tough has Kendrick Lewis been?

REID: "Twenty-three is all in, all the time. Even when he can't practice with the ankle, he's right there just backpedaling, making calls and just on the sideline, so he's doing all the stuff. He's 100-percent all in. I love the kid. Tough, tough, tough kid."

Q: Is that an unusual trait?

REID: "You see some of the safeties in the National Football League that are like that, kind of between that corner and linebacker mentality there. Physically, you're that way, too. So, (there are) pretty tough (guys) playing back there, too."
