A photograph can be powerful. It possesses the ability to capture the raw emotion of a singular moment and preserve an otherwise fleeting snippet of time, all while telling a story in the process.
Over the next few days, we're going to take a look back at 10 of the best photos from the 2024-25 season along with commentary from Chiefs' Director of Photography Steve Sanders.
Here's what we've covered so far:
We'll continue with No. 2:
"The Win!"

Setting: Week 10 vs. Denver
The Subject: Quarterback Patrick Mahomes celebrates following the Chiefs' "block off" victory over the Broncos.
Taken By: Evan Sanders
Camera Model: Cannon EOS R3
Focal Length: 400 mm
Exposure Time: 1/4,000
Aperture: f/4
Steve Sanders' Thoughts:
Q: What was going on here, and why did you include this photo in the collection?
Sanders: "I had to include this to follow No. 3," Sanders said. "After the 'block off,' this was the reaction. Patrick was running down the field like a little kid. He was so happy, and the whole team just exploded. We have great pictures of so many different guys during this moment, but I love this emotion from Patrick. He's up off the ground, the grass is flying up, and he looks so happy."
Q: Your son captured this photo. What does it mean to you, not just as a teacher – but as a father – for your son to take a picture like this?
Sanders: "Evan has been around this his entire life. He's 25, and he has been shooting pictures a long time," Sanders said. "To see him succeed and follow in my footsteps a little bit means a lot. He does a great job, and he takes it very seriously."
Q: Where was Evan positioned when he took this?
Sanders: "He was down in the other end zone, so he was as far away from the block as you could be on the field, and he just allowed this photo to come to him," Sanders said. "Patrick ran all the way down to the other end zone, so Evan was able to stay there and take the picture."
Q: I love the contrast of Patrick's joy with his bruised and bloody hand. Can you speak to that juxtaposition a little bit?
Sanders: "I'm sure he has no idea that his hand is bloody. It probably didn't hurt at all in this moment," Sanders said. "He's the quarterback. He's the leader of the team. He had nothing to do with this block, but he's so happy for the team and that they were able to get this win."
