Chiefs Trail Falcons, 14-10, at Halftime

The Chiefs continued the preseason in Atlanta on Friday night

The Kansas City Chiefs are trailing the Atlanta Falcons, 14-10, at halftime as the two teams continue the preseason at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Ga.

With seconds remaining in the half, Chiefs' quarterback Patrick Mahomes connected with wide receiver Tyreek Hill for a 69-yard touchdown to narrow the deficit.

Mahomes completed 8-of-12 passes for 138 yards, a touchdown and an interception in the half.

Atlanta struck first when quarterback Matt Ryan found tight end Austin Hooper for a six-yard score on the Falcons' initial drive.

Kansas City responded with a 13-play drive in which Mahomes completed 5-of-7 passes for 61 yards – with four of those passes gaining 10 yards or more. The drive ended with a 25-yard field goal from kicker Harrison Butker, representing the Chiefs' first score of the half.

The Falcons extended their lead midway through the second quarter, as quarterback Matt Schaub connected with Calvin Ridley for a seven-yard touchdown.

Atlanta was driving once again in the closing minutes of the half before Kansas City's defense held firm on fourth down within their own 10-yard line – the Chiefs' second fourth-down stop of the night. That stop provided the Chiefs with the ball deep in their own territory with just over a minute left, setting up Mahomes' touchdown to Hill.
