Chris Jones Makes List of "Players Who Deserve More Hype" Heading Into 2018

The third-year player has been one of the league’s best young defensive linemen since entering the NFL as the Chiefs’ second-round pick in 2016

It's no secret that Kansas City Chiefs' defensive lineman Chris Jones has put together a couple of fantastic seasons to begin his NFL career.

Jones—a darling child of the football analytics website Pro Football Focus, which has put Jones among the best 3-4 defensive ends in the league in each of the past two years—has amassed 60 total quarterback hurries to begin his NFL career. He also ranked as PFF's third-best defensive end in getting after the passer last year, trailing only Aaron Donald (Rams) and Cameron Heyward (Steelers).

Now, as Jones prepares to improve upon an already impressive start to his career, there are some out there who believe he should be getting even more credit heading into 2018.

Bleacher Report's Doug Farrar recently wrote about 12 players he believes "Deserve More Hype Heading Into This Season," and Jones was among those listed.

Here's what Farrar had to say about Jones:

"At 6'6" and 308 pounds, Jones is listed as a defensive tackle, and though he is an effective run-stopper, he's not just a power pig responsible for cleaning things up in the middle so other defenders can get things done. Playing on either shoulder of the left guard or over the guard's head, Jones amassed 6.5 sacks in his second season last year, as well as a ton of pressures, with an impressive set of moves designed to use his upper-body strength…

"In just two NFL seasons, Jones has become one of the league's most exciting, complete defensive linemen."

The other players Farrar listed were QB Tyrod Taylor (Browns), RB Alex Collins (Ravens), RB Dion Lewis (Titans), WR Kenny Golladay (Lions), WR Kendall Wright (Vikings), TE David Njoku (Browns), DE Yannick Ngakoue (Jaguars), OLB/DE Carl Lawson (Bengals), CB William Jackson (Bengals), CB Tre'Davious White (Bills), and S Tre Boston (free agent).
