The Kansas City Chiefs' commitment to bettering this community is as much a part of the franchise as football itself, exemplified through decades of giving back to those in need throughout Chiefs Kingdom.

Perhaps one of the greatest examples of that commitment is The Hunt Family Foundation 50/50 Raffle, which takes place during every Chiefs' home game at Arrowhead Stadium and provides one lucky fan with the souvenir of a lifetime while collecting thousands of dollars in donations for worthy causes.

The idea is simple: for every ticket purchased, half of the funds go to the raffle winner and half go to the designated charity for that week. It's raised hundreds of thousands of dollars this season for organizations such as Ronald McDonald House Charites of Kansas City, Camp Quality USA, The University of Kansas Cancer Center and several others, making a significant difference for those right here in this community. In its seven years of existence, the 50/50 Raffle has raised more than $2.5 million for causes just like those.

And, for the very first time, the 50/50 Raffle received some additional reinforcements on Sunday.

This past weekend's raffle benefited City Year Kansas City - an organization that helps put local students in a position to succeed both academically and in life - raising a donation of $47,978 through ticket sales alone, but a local community member ensured that City Year received an even larger figure.

The Cocherl Family Foundation, founded by local businessman and philanthropist Patrick Cocherl, Jr. and his wife, Kathy, doubled the original donation for a grand total of $95,956 to support City Year and its life-changing programs in Kansas City.

It's yet another example of what those in this community can accomplish when united for a common cause while demonstrating both the Chiefs' and the Cocherl Family Foundation's unwavering commitment to making Chiefs Kingdom a better and more prosperous place to be for everyone.
