Five Things We Learned From Thursday's Media Availability

Head Coach Andy Reid, quarterback Patrick Mahomes and wide receiver Sammy Watkins met with the media on Thursday afternoon

Kansas City Chiefs' Head Coach Andy Reid, quarterback Patrick Mahomes and wide receiver Sammy Watkins met with the media on Thursday afternoon.

Here are five things that stood out.

Head Coach Andy Reid

1. What did you think about the decision to move the game to L.A.?

REID: "I have full trust in the league that they're going to make the right decisions. They take consideration of a lot of things. I'm sure there are a lot of things I don't even know. One thing I do know, we have the best fans in the world. I do know that. I feel for the ones who couldn't go, as does the organization and the league [for those] that had made arrangements. We have all gone through that, but we appreciate the fans and the support they give us on the road, which is phenomenal, I've said that before too. Things like this happen. Not very often in the National Football League, but it happened, and they are making the changes that probably need to be made. I will tell you that. If they are doing it, then it's the right thing."

2. How often are you coaching Patrick Mahomes things he hasn't seen yet?

REID: "That normally goes on for a couple of years. There's going to be things that are going to be new, and not only new by the film that you study a team with, but also during the game. They are going to present something that you have to work on and get answered there pretty quick during a game and make your adjustments. That normally goes on for a couple years. He has done a nice job of working through it. He studies extremely hard and puts in a lot of hours in the building looking at tape, working with [Quarterbacks Coach] Mike [Kafka] and EB [Offensive Coordinator Eric Bieniemy]. He is real good about all of that. He tries to narrow that error margin down just a little bit."

3. Have you had a chance to think about breaking Len Dawson's single-season passing touchdowns record?

MAHOMES: "Yeah, I got to talk to Len [Dawson]. He was so far advanced in his time for that record to stand this long. I mean, you throw 30 touchdowns in today's league where there is a lot more passing and you're still having a great season. For him to be that advanced, and he won a Super Bowl here, I mean, he's one of the best quarterbacks to ever play. It really is an honor to even be mentioned [with] his name and the single-season record like that."

4. How excited are you to play against another 9-1 team?

MAHOMES: "Very excited. First off, it's Monday Night [Football], so you're going to be the only thing on TV. You're going to get to play against a really, really good team in every aspect. They're good on special teams, good on defense, good on offense, and when you play in this league, you want to play against the best. Getting to compete against a team like this is going to be a great challenge for us and we're going to go out there and compete."

Wide Receiver Sammy Watkins

5. If you're able to play, what will it be like going up against your former team?

WATKINS: "I think it will be just like any other week. I will just be happy to see the guys I played with last year. Robert Woods of course, Todd Gurley, a couple great players they have over there. Just to see the coaches, that will be a good thing. Really, just go out there and compete and have fun."
