The Chiefs recently hosted the Midwest Dairy Association Training Camp for Fuel Up to Play 60 event at Arrowhead Stadium to reward students who have made healthy choices and stayed active throughout the school year.

Fuel Up to Play 60 is an in-school program that teaches nutrition and physical activity components to students in order to empower them to make healthy decisions throughout the year.

"The Fuel Up to Play 60 event is a two part combination," explained Sean Cornelius, President of Cornelius Farms.  "The first part, the fuel up, it's the nutrition side and then the Play 60 program, playing for 60 minutes a day. So it's all about rewarding the kids for their dedication and teaching them more about how to pick healthy foods to fuel their bodies to go out and play for 60 minutes."

The event was packed with activities. When the students arrived they grabbed a healthy breakfast, participated in nutrition and physical activity stations, went on a tour of Arrowhead, and had a meet and greet with Chiefs Punter Dustin Colquitt and Defensive Lineman Mike DeVito.

"It was a cool event," Colquitt commented. "We got to see a lot of students from the Missouri and Kansas side celebrate this event called Fuel Up to Play 60, it's a way for kids to focus on general wellness and staying active."

Both Colquitt and DeVito encouraged the students to continue practicing the principles of the Fuel Up to Play 60 program.

"Fuel Up to Play 60 is a great program because it starts at the ground level," Colquitt noted. "If you don't have the foundation of three dairy products a day, whole grain foods, fruits and vegetables then you won't be able to do your best in the classroom or on the field."

The Midwest Dairy Association has a long-standing relationship with the Chiefs and this partnership is evident through the nation-wide program of Fuel Up to Play 60.

"The Midwest Dairy Association has been involved with the Chiefs for many years," Bridget Sheehan, Nutritionist with the Midwest Dairy Association, explained. "Fuel Up to Play 60 is a National program with the National Dairy Counsel and the NFL in coordination with the USDA. We're really proud to be involved locally with the Kansas City Chiefs and to bring the excitement of the Chiefs to the schools each and every year."
