He last served as the Commander for the 647th Logistics Readiness Squadron at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam until his retirement in 2021. Game Entertainment
The national anthem will be performed by Retired U.S. Navy Honorary Chief Petty Officer Steven Powell.
While serving in the Navy, Powell discovered a second calling in performing the National Anthem at military ceremonies and sporting events. Having grown up singing in church, music had always been part of his life, but it wasn't until a friend encouraged him to audition to perform the anthem for the Phoenix Suns that his singing career took off.
Among the many venues and events where he has performed, Powell counts singing at Normandy Beach in June 2024 during the 80th anniversary commemoration of D-Day as one of his most memorable experiences.
Following the national anthem, a C-130H out of Rosecrans Air National Guard Base in St. Joseph, Mo., accompanied by two A-10 Thunderbolts from Whiteman Air Force Base in Knob Noster, Mo., will conduct a flyover.
The Fort Leavenworth Joint Service Color Guard will present Sunday's colors.
At halftime, the United States Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon, a 24-man rifle platoon based at Marine Barracks Washington, will perform synchronized precision exhibition drills without verbal commands or vocal cadence.
The Platoon is composed of 24 hand-selected infantry Marines who are chosen directly from the Infantry Marine Course and meet the rigorous standards required for this elite assignment. Following six weeks of demanding physical training and countless hours perfecting the art of Barracks drill, these Marines earn their "black shirts" and a place among the coveted "Marching Twenty-Four."
Since its inception in 1948, the Silent Drill Platoon has become renowned for its uncompromising attention to detail, exemplary discipline, and unwavering commitment to the Marine Corps.
