Punter Matt Araiza Earns AFC Special Teams "Player of the Week" Honors

Araiza dropped all five of his punts inside the 20-yard line on Sunday

Punter Matt Araiza put together one of his best games as a member of the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, and after playing a major role in a thrilling win over Las Vegas, the veteran punter earned some recognition from the league.

Araiza was named the AFC Special Teams "Player of the Week" for Week 4 on Wednesday following a performance in which he dropped all five of his punts inside the Raiders' 20-yard line.

He also added a successful fake punt conversion early in the game before ultimately saving his best play for last, dropping a 52-yard boot down to the Raiders' 1-yard line late in the fourth quarter. The punt – which took place with just over a minute left in the game – helped Kansas City preserve a three-point lead and secure the victory.

The game was a continuation of what has been a stellar start to the season for Araiza, who leads the NFL in punting average (52.3 yards) while ranking third in punts dropped inside the opponent's 20-yard line (9).

Kansas City hasn't punted much this year, as Araiza's 12 total punts rank 25th in the NFL, but when called upon, the veteran punter has come through time and time again.
