Super Bowl LVII is set to kickoff this Sunday with the Kansas City Chiefs facing off against the Philadelphia Eagles. The Chiefs are pursuing their third Super Bowl win in franchise history, but they are going to need everyone on the field to step up and make plays if they want to be crowned champions. Â
The Chiefs' path to success on Sunday all starts with quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes is tasked with leading the Chiefs' offense against a skilled Eagles' defense that racked up a league-most 70 sacks in 2022. It is no secret what Mahomes is capable of; that being said, it is likely that the Eagles' primary focus will be trying to contain the 2022 NFL MVP.
Fortunately, one of the best parts of Mahomes' game is that he can spread the football around. Even in the AFC Championship Game, when the Chiefs were down to just three active wide receivers in the second half, Mahomes found a way to lead Kansas City to victory. Getting the ball into his receivers' hands and letting them make the plays is going to be a key difference-maker this Sunday.
This Eagles' offense is also incredibly talented and explosive. In order to limit their impact on this game, the Chiefs' defensive line will need to dominate much like they did against Cincinnati two weeks ago. Quarterback Jalen Hurts can attack defenses with his arm and his legs, so if the defensive line rushes him in unison and keeps him in the pocket, the Chiefs' defense will have a higher chance of success. Â
Another key aspect of stopping Hurts and the Eagles' offense is the performance of the Chiefs' linebacker corps. Kansas City's ability to cover on the backend while also keeping an eye on Hurts and his mobility is crucial, and it all begins with linebacker Nick Bolton.
Bolton is a very skilled linebacker who is seemingly always around the football. The second-year linebacker is involved in virtually every single defensive play, and it's important that he continues to do just that in the Super Bowl. Â
Lastly, securing a win in Super Bowl LVII will require the Chiefs' secondary to rise to the occasion once again. All season long, the Chiefs' young secondary has stepped up in the biggest of ways. They've consistently proved their doubters wrong at every turn, and they'll need to do so again against a very talented Eagles' receiver corps.
As the Chiefs prepare for the biggest night in sports, each player will have to play to the best of their capabilities to come out on top. The Eagles are a tremendous team, so it's no small task to beat them. However, this Chiefs' team is also exceptionally good, so be prepared for a highly intense Super Bowl. One thing is certain: the Chiefs are excited and ready for the challenge.
