1. APB called off for Chiefs' TD receptions by wide receivers

By Terez Paylor - Kansas City Star

"When Chris Conley caught a 15-yard touchdown pass from Chase Daniel in the second quarter of the Chiefs' preseason game against the Rams on Thursday, it was another reason to believe the Chiefs won't go another season without a scoring reception from a wide receiver."    READ MORE…

2. Chiefs' Zach Fulton makes most of first start at center

By Blair Kerkhoff - Kansas City Star

""I thought it played really well," Daniel said. "He's a big dude up there. You don't get much push in the pocket when he's up there. For playing center for the first time in a game, I thought the snaps were great, his (shot) gun snaps were good. He didn't play nervous. He led the line out there tonight." Fulton started 16 games at right guard last season, his first after the Chiefs made him their sixth-round pick in the 2014 draft. He was a three-year starter at right guard at Tennessee. "It's not too much of a difference," Fulton said. "Certain schemes and plays I have to do different things, obviously. But it was neat doing something different.""    READ MORE…

3. Chiefs complete perfect preseason with 24-17 victory over Rams

By Terez Paylor - Kansas City Star

"At the end of day, the Chiefs' 24-17 victory over the St. Louis Rams in their final preseason game won't mean much in the grand scheme of things. The Chiefs sat 28 players Thursday, including all but two — tackle Paul Fanaika and inside linebacker Ramik Wilson — who started the third preseason game a week ago against Tennessee. Then again, the Chiefs, 4-0, finished the preseason undefeated for only the fourth time in franchise history. The last two times they did that — 1966 and 1969 — the Chiefs made the Super Bowl. Their only other perfect preseason was in 1960, the first year of the Dallas Texans' franchise."    READ MORE…

4. Rams were the opponent, but Texans were on minds of Chiefs starters

By Blair Kerkhoff - Kansas City Star

""It's kind of been the main thing for us, especially the guys who wouldn't play this game," said quarterback Alex Smith, who didn't play on Thursday. "I've spent the whole week spending a lot of time watching some Houston tape, just trying to get familiar with it.""    READ MORE…

5. Chris Conley could play a big role for the Chiefs

By Adam Teicher - ESPN

"Chris Conley had the ball he caught for his first professional touchdown tucked away in his locker after the Kansas City Chiefs beat the St. Louis Rams Thursday night. It might have happened in a preseason game, but the memento was still special for Conley. "That's going to mom and dad," Conley said. "Hopefully, many more to come." Further touchdown catches would come in the regular season, of course. The Chiefs concluded their preseason with a 24-17 victory against the Rams that was fueled in part by Conley's 15-yard scoring catch from Chase Daniel in the second quarter."    READ MORE…
