Upon Further Review: 11 Quick Facts About Sunday's Victory over Pittsburgh

Here are some interesting notes from around the web about the win

The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday to remain undefeated. Here are 11 quick facts about the game.

1. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw six touchdowns in the victory

Mahomes' performance on Sunday wasn't just impressive – it was historic. Only once before has a Kansas City passer tossed six or more touchdowns in a game, and that was 54 years ago.

Dawson accomplished the feat in 1964 against the Denver Broncos, setting a franchise record that stood unmatched for over five decades until Sunday. It was also the most touchdown passes the Steelers had allowed to an opposing quarterback since Jim Kelly in 1991.

And as Sports Radio 810's Soren Petro points out, even five touchdown passes in a single game is significant in its own right. Mahomes did that and more.

2. Mahomes is the youngest quarterback in NFL history to throw six touchdowns in a game

At 22 years and 364 days old, Mahomes is the youngest signal caller ever to find the end zone six times through the air.

3. He did all of that while throwing just five incompletions, too

Mahomes is just the third player in NFL history to toss six or more touchdowns while throwing more scores (6) than incompletions (5), joining Tom Brady (2x), Peyton Manning (2x) and Nick Foles.

He didn't throw an interception, either. In fact, through Mahomes first two games this season, he hasn't even contributed what the folks over at Pro Football Focus consider "a turnover worthy" play.

4. Sunday marked Mahomes' second-consecutive game with at least four passing touchdowns

Mahomes threw four touchdowns in the Chiefs' season-opening victory over the Los Angeles Chargers, and with six scores against Pittsburgh on Sunday, he etched his name in the history books yet again.

5. And when you add it all together, Mahomes' 10 touchdowns are the most through the season's first two weeks in NFL history

With his sixth touchdown strike on Sunday, Mahomes passed Peyton Manning (2013) and Drew Brees (2009) for the most passing touchdowns through the first two weeks of the season in the history of the league.

6. Those touchdowns have been divvied up among seven different receivers

Mahomes has spread the ball around through Kansas City's first two games of the season, connecting with seven different pass-catchers for touchdowns.

7. Speaking of spreading the ball around, two Kansas City pass-catchers crossed the century mark on Sunday

Tight end Travis Kelce (109) and wide receiver Sammy Watkins (100) each tallied triple-digit yards through the air against Pittsburgh – something that hadn't been accomplished in a while.

8. And for Kelce, it was enough to reach a career milestone

The six-year veteran passed the 4,000-yard receiving mark for his career on Sunday, which is already the second-most receiving yards by a tight end in franchise history.

9. Kelce scored the Chiefs' second touchdown on Sunday as Kansas City amassed 21 points in the first quarter

The Chiefs raced out to an early lead, matching the most first-quarter points in team history.

It marked the fourth such occurrence in franchise history and the third under Head Coach Andy Reid.

10. The offense didn't slow down, as Mahomes led Kansas City to a second-consecutive road victory

The game marked Mahomes third-consecutive start on the road to begin his career dating back to last season, with each of those contests ending in a victory. As Sports Radio 810's Kurtis Seaboldt points out, that's pretty significant.

11. And for the team as a whole, it was the first win in Pittsburgh in quite a while

Sunday's victory went a bit differently.
