2021 | Tim Grunhard | Center

Grunhard

When Marty Schottenheimer set about establishing his first offensive line as Kansas City head coach he saw Tim Grunhard as its centerpiece. He fit the model of what Schottenheimer wanted an offensive lineman to be: big, physical, smart, and available. Grunhard went on to make 120 consecutive starts at center over a ten-year period after joining the team as a second-round pick. Talkative, outspoken enough to host a popular radio show, "Grunny" helped lead the way for his coach's grind-it-out styled offense, termed "Marty-Ball", and by the end of the '90s he was a Pro Bowl player on teams that finished among the NFL's top five rushing offenses in four of his final six seasons.
