Bryan DeLong and Jeremy Milne Named Chiefs High School Coaches of the Week

The Kansas City Chiefs have announced the recipients of the Missouri and Kansas High School Coach of the Week awards for week eight. Bryan DeLong from Center High School in Kansas City, Missouri, and Jeremy Milne from Turner High School in Kansas City, Kansas, each received this honor after a strong performance by their respective teams this past week.

Center improved to 10-0 on the season with a 54-6 win over Boonville. The Yellowjackets have been dominant all season and finished the regular season as the No. 3 ranked team in Missouri Class 3.

"It is such a tremendous honor to be recognized by such a prestigious organization as the Kansas City Chiefs," DeLong said. "This is truly a credit to all of the hard work and long hours the boys and assistant coaches have put in all year round. They have made a strong commitment and many sacrifices in order to put our program where it is today. We would like to thank the Chiefs for their commitment to the community and especially high school football."

Turner finished its regular season with a win over Wyandotte. That victory earned the Bears a No. 7 seed and a home game in the Kansas Class 5A playoffs. The four wins are the most for Turner in five seasons.

"It is an honor for Turner High School to be recognized with the Chiefs Coach of the Week award," Milne said. "This is a team award and is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our student-athletes, assistant coaches, and parents. These people are hard at work every day striving to be positive representatives for the entire Turner community. We want to thank the Chiefs for putting our kids and their efforts in the spotlight."

As a result of the award, both schools will receive a $500 grant. Additionally, both coaches will be presented with a congratulatory football autographed by Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid and a certificate recognizing their selection. Each recipient is now a finalist for their state's Chiefs Coach of the Year Award.

The 2016 High School Coach of the Week program is a joint initiative of the Kansas City Chiefs and the National Football League. This program is designed to recognize and reward Kansas City area high school coaches for superior performance on a weekly basis. The Chiefs Coach of the Week program is intended to honor individuals who are shaping today's youth and tomorrow's leaders.

A member of the Chiefs Community Caring Team will visit the winners this week for a special presentation to honor them at their respective schools. Each state's winner is selected in collaboration with PrepsKC. For more information on this week's winners and the Chiefs Coach of the Week program, visit www.chiefs.com or www.prepskc.com.
