Chiefs Create New Championship Tradition For Youth Football Athletes Across Chiefs Kingdom

New Program Will Recognize Flag and Tackle Football Champions Throughout Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska

KANSAS CITY, Mo – Every fall, thousands of youth and high school football players across Chiefs Kingdom compete for the opportunity to call themselves champions. This season, the Kansas City Chiefs are creating a new way to celebrate those achievements with the launch of "Champion 'Chips," a region-wide initiative recognizing championship-winning flag and tackle football teams across Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska.

Through "Champion 'Chips," championship-winning teams will receive custom commemorative Chiefs-branded Champion 'Chips as part of their title celebration, providing a unique way to recognize and commemorate their achievement.

Inspired by the way today's athletes refer to winning a championship as winning "the 'chip," the initiative celebrates the hard work, dedication, and accomplishments of youth football players throughout the region. The program will honor champions from Chiefs Flag Football leagues, the inaugural sanctioned Kansas high school girls Flag Football season, and high school tackle football across Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska.

"Across Chiefs Kingdom, thousands of young athletes dedicate countless hours to their teams, their teammates, and the game of football," said Lauren Denowitz, Vice President of Brand and Fan Engagement. Champion 'Chips" is a fun and meaningful way to praise those athletes and create a new tradition around championship moments. From our Chiefs Flag leagues to the historic growth of girls Flag Football and high school tackle programs throughout the region, we're excited to recognize the next generation of champions."

The initiative reflects the Chiefs ongoing commitment to growing football at every level while deepening connections with youth athletes, families, and communities throughout the club's home market area. "Champion 'Chips" was created as a way to commend the dedication, teamwork, and perseverance that define championship seasons while inspiring future generations of players.

The "Champion 'Chips" celebration will coincide with championship tournaments throughout the fall, including:

  • Kansas High School Girls Flag Football Championship – October 17
  • Chiefs Flag Football League Championships (Kansas and Missouri) – Late October and early November
  • Nebraska Boys High School Tackle Football Championships – November 20, 23, and 24
  • Kansas Boys High School Tackle Football Championships – November 27-28
  • Missouri Boys High School Tackle Football Championships – December 3-5

Throughout the season, the Chiefs will highlight championship teams, share their stories and glorify their accomplishments across the club's NextGen digital and social platforms.
