Chiefs Announced as One of Eight Teams to Host Madden 17 Club Series Competition for Fans

Registration now open for fans to enter Madden tournament

The National Football League announced today that the Kansas City Chiefs will be one of eight teams to host its own *Madden 17 *competition as part of the league's Madden Club Series. The e-sports competition allows football fans to compete in a local tournament, eventually crowning the best *Madden 17 *player from Chiefs Kingdom.

Kansas City Chiefs fans, and fans from across the country, can register for online qualification beginning today, with an online ladder tournament kicking off on Monday, January 9. Registration is available at www.easports.com/madden-nfl/compete/register/madden-nfl-club-series.

From the start of the ladder tournament through early February, fans across each of the eight NFL club markets will compete head-to-head to determine the top eight players representing each team. Following the online qualifying contests, eight finalists will take part in live competitions in each NFL market. The top eight players from Kansas City will play in front of a live audience at Arrowhead Stadium on Wednesday, March 22, with the action being streamed on www.chiefs.com as well as on the Madden NFL Sports Twitch channel.

In addition to the Chiefs, the other participating clubs and fan bases include the Minnesota Vikings, the New England Patriots, the Buffalo Bills, the Seattle Seahawks, the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the San Francisco 49ers.

"We are very excited to join the National Football League on this initiative," Chiefs President Mark Donovan said. "The Madden 17 Club Series competition is going to deliver some great Madden play and give Chiefs fans a new way to connect with the team, each other and fans across the NFL."

Prizes totaling $10,000 at each venue, including cash, player-autographed memorabilia and team merchandise will be awarded to fans who qualify for the live competitions. Following the club tournament at Arrowhead Stadium, the top finishers from Kansas City will compete at the Madden 17 Club Series Championship in early April. Players at this level will be eligible for an additional prize pool of $50,000, as well as the potential to qualify for the Madden Championship.
