Chiefs Lead Broncos, 14-10, at Halftime

Rookie quarterback Patrick Mahomes has the Chiefs out in front in his first career start

The Kansas City Chiefs are leading the Denver Broncos, 14-10, at halftime at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.

Chiefs' quarterback Patrick Mahomes  completed eight of 15 passes for 135 yards and an interception in the half as the rookie made his first career start under center.

Fellow rookie Kareem Hunt put the Chiefs on the scoreboard almost right away, dashing for a 35-yard score less than a minute into the game. The run moved Hunt into the league-lead for rushing yards this season.

Fullback Anthony Sherman added another touchdown late in the second quarter, punching in the first rushing score of his seven-year career.

Linebacker Terrance Smith also recorded a personal milestone, picking off Broncos' quarterback Paxton Lynch in the closing seconds of the half for the first interception of his career.

Wide receiver De'Anthony Thomas suffered a leg injury late in the first quarter and has been ruled out for the rest of the contest.

Catch the second half of action on CBS (KCTV5 local) and 101.1 The Fox.
