Chiefs RB Spencer Ware, a Fantasy Sleeper?

NFL fantasy football writer Alex Gelhar says “yes”

We are less than two weeks away from the NFL regular season, which also means we are less than two weeks away from everyone's favorite—fantasy football season.

Recently, NFL fantasy football writer Alex Gelhar compiled a list of “deep fantasy sleepers” heading into this season.

According to Gelhar, if you are finally going to take down Uncle Mike, you may want to consider Chiefs running back Spencer Ware.

Gelhar writes:

"Spencer Ware looks to be the back to own behind Jamaal Charles after playing like an absolute beast in 2015. Yet, why he lands on this list is because he could provide some standalone value as well. Ware was the most effective runner near the goal line for the Chiefs in 2015, converting five of his nine attempts inside the 10-yard line into touchdowns. But he wasn't just a short-yardage specialist. He took his 72 attempts for 403 yards (5.6 yards per carry), with 12.5 percent of his runs going for 10-plus yards, trailing Charles' 16.9 percent but well ahead of Charcandrick West's 6.9 percent."

But that is just part of his write-up. You can read the whole thing here.

To Gelhar's point, Ware has taken the first-string reps at running back for the Chiefs in each of their first two preseason games. But what is also important to remember is that starter Jamaal Charles was not expected to play in both and Charcandrick West was held out of game number two.

Good luck against Uncle Mike. Never liked him much anyway.
