Chiefs Rookies Marcus Peters and Mitch Morse Already Garnering National Attention

The first two picks for the Chiefs are excelling, according to both ESPN and Pro Football Focus

ESPN and Pro Football Focus both separately recognized Chiefs rookies Marcus Peters and Mitch Morse on Thursday in early NFL rookie rankings.

First, ESPN NFL and college draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. released his rankings, placing Peters first and Morse third on a list of 20 rookies.

On Peters (ranked No. 1): "Heading into the draft, I wrote: 'On tape alone, he has an argument as the top cornerback in the class.' Peters looks like it so far. He has an interception in each of his first two games, including a pick-six against Peyton Manning in Week 2. So far, so good."

*On Morse (ranked No. 3): "I knew the Chiefs were interested in Morse going into the draft, but I can tell you they had him rated a lot higher than I did. This is a case of them seeing a perfect fit, and Morse has looked the part of a veteran through two games."*

Later on, the football analytics site Pro Football Focus released its rankings, placing Peters third and Morse ninth.

*On Peters (ranked No. 3): "He leads the league with his six passes defended through two games, and while there is an element of boom-or-bust to his game, he's made a positive impact overall."*

*On Morse (ranked No. 9): "Unable to replicate his stellar opening week against Denver in Week 2, Morse can still be considered an early-season success for how well he has adjusted to a new position, and to the NFL."*

Though the rankings are subjective and obviously don't equate to wins and losses on the field, it's a good early sign for the 2015 Chiefs draft class.
