Coming to the Game on Thursday? Here's What You Need to Know

Important Gameday Information for Fans Leading Up to Club's Home Opener on Thursday Night Football

On Thursday, Sept. 17, the Kansas City Chiefs will host the Denver Broncos for a 7:25 p.m. kickoff on CBS's Thursday Night Football to open the club's 2015 home slate. As the first regular season home game of the year, the Chiefs are offering fans a number of reminders and benefits for those coming to Arrowhead.

Carrying on a Primetime Tradition

Chiefs fans will once again have a prominent role in the primetime gameday atmosphere for Thursday Night Football. In what has become an Arrowhead Stadium national primetime game tradition, all fans will be asked to join in the singing of the National Anthem. This game's National Anthem, led by the Kansas City Symphony, will include a field- size American flag held by Chiefs Season Ticket Members.

Red Thursday Chiefs Kingdom Flags

As part of Red Thursday, tens of thousands of newly designed Chiefs Kingdom flags will be available for a $5 donation to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City at more than 170 metro locations, including all area McDonald's, as well at well-known street corners throughout the city. For fans who miss their opportunity to grab one of the special edition flags, a limited quantity of Red Thursday Chiefs Kingdom flags will be available in the Chiefs Pro Shop at Arrowhead Stadium beginning when the parking lots open at 2:30 p.m.

Early Arrival – Parking Gates

Parking lot gates for Thursday's game open at 2:30 p.m. Fans are encouraged to purchase their general parking passes in advance to decrease the time spent at parking tollgates and help expedite the parking process for all gameday visitors. General parking passes can be purchased in advance for $27 at the Chiefs Ticket Office or by calling (816) 920-4237. General parking is also available online at http://www.ticketmaster.com/parking-chiefs-vs-broncos-kansas- city-missouri-09-17-2015/event/06004E9521218B3B. General parking on gameday will be $30 cash at Gates 2, 3,  4, 6 and 7. Chiefs Kingdom Rewards Members can enter the parking lots even earlier at 1:30 pm by redeeming points for an Early Arrival Pass.

Chiefs Season Ticket Members with prepaid parking passes who arrive prior to 3:25 p.m. will receive 800 Chiefs Kingdom Rewards points as incentive for beating the rush to the Truman Sports Complex. If arriving before 4:25 p.m., Season Ticket Members will earn 400 points.

All fans who are in the parking lots by 4 p.m. may be chosen as a winner for lucky prizes. A "Prize Team" will distribute prizes at random to those who have arrived prior to 4 p.m. Prizes include autographed memorabilia, pregame sideline passes, Chiefs Clear Bags, postgame photo opportunities, Founder's Club passes, Chiefs Kingdom flags and $25 gift cards to the Chiefs Pro Shop.

Early Arrival – Stadium Gates

Arrowhead Stadium gates for ticketed guests on the Scout Investments Club Level will open at 5 p.m. All other stadium gates will open at 6 p.m. for the 7:25 p.m. kickoff.

Season Ticket Members can also earn points for entering the stadium early for the Thursday Night Football game. For those fans who enter the stadium prior to 6:25 p.m., they will earn 800 Chiefs Kingdom Rewards points for their account, double the amount that Season Ticket Members normally receive for early arrival.

Parking

Fans are encouraged to arrive as early as possible and review the Chiefs parking operations that were introduced prior to the 2014 season. These modified parking features will be in effect for all games at Arrowhead Stadium and include:

  • There will be no cash parking at Gate 5.
  • Only guests with prepaid parking passes will be allowed to enter through Gate 5. Prepaid parking can be purchased for $27 at the Chiefs Ticket Office or by calling (816) 920-4237.
  • Fans First Booths will be located throughout the parking lots at tent locations while representatives from the Fans First Booths will be navigating the parking lots on golf carts to provide assistance to guests.
  • All traffic will flow in a counter-clockwise direction on Dubiner Circle (all traffic moves to the right).
  • Parking gate entry and type of parking pass will determine the parking lot a vehicle will park in (cars will be directed to the nearest lots with spaces available).
  • Individuals who wish to park multiple cars nearby in the same lot are encouraged to arrive through the same gate entrance at the same time in order to secure close parking spots.
  • All fans are asked to maintain a clear aisle by containing all tailgate equipment to an eight-foot area behind each parking space. This will allow a space that can accommodate emergency vehicle traffic and ensure that cars can safely be directed to all available parking spots.

Also continuing in 2015, RV/Bus parking has moved from Lot A to the north side of Dubiner Circle, which will provide direct access out of Gate 7 when exiting the complex. RV/Bus operators may still enter through Gates 1 or 7 and will be directed to the RV/Bus parking location.

Traffic and Construction

Working in conjunction with the Missouri Department of Transportation, the Chiefs are reminding all fans who are planning to attend Thursday's game that there will be increased traffic throughout the city due to the outbound weeknight commute. Thus, fans should expect delays and traffic congestion that they don't normally experience for Sunday contests.

To assist with the overall flow of traffic, the traffic configuration at the Stadium Drive, Manchester Trafficway/Raytown Road intersection west of the Truman Sports Complex has been changed. Those changes include:

Stadium Drive Eastbound Traffic:Fans traveling eastbound on Stadium Drive must turn right on Raytown Road. Motorists with a parking pass will be directed to Gate 5 and those with cash will be directed to Gate 4.

Manchester Trafficway Southbound Traffic:Fans traveling southbound on Manchester Trafficway will be able to turn left onto Stadium Drive or stay straight which becomes Raytown Road. Fans who stay straight onto Raytown Road and have a prepaid parking pass will be directed to Gate 5 and those who are paying cash will be directed to Gate 4.  Those that turn left onto Stadium Drive will be directed to Gate 6.

Raytown Road Northbound Traffic:Fans traveling northbound on Raytown Road must turn right onto Stadium Drive.

The Missouri Department of Transportation is continuing bridge rehabilitation work on Stadium Drive near Gates 6 and 7 on the north side of the Truman Sports Complex. One lane will be closed in both the eastbound and westbound directions between Raytown Road and Route 40. Fans should plan for additional travel time if their route will take them along Stadium Drive.

NFL Network Fan Zone

Chiefs Kingdom Rewards members had the opportunity to use their points to secure entry into the Fan Zone. The NFL Network's Fan Zone will be set up near the Sprint Gate on the northeast side of Arrowhead Stadium. This on-location tailgate includes food, drinks, games, the Lombardi Trophy, and the ability to watch NFL Total Access Kickoff on big screen TVs. Fans are welcome to stop by and view the location where the NFL Network will be dropping in for live hits during their pregame show.

Chiefs Happy Hour in the Draft Room The Draft Room, located near the Tower Gate on the south side of the stadium, will open at 5 p.m. and provide Happy Hour specials including $5 beer, $4 soda and complimentary popcorn until the 7:25 p.m. kickoff. Come early as space is limited.
