David Allie and Anthony Orrick Named Chiefs High School Coaches of the Week

The Kansas City Chiefs have announced the recipients of the Missouri and Kansas High School Coach of the Week awards for week seven. David Allie from Grain Valley High School in Grain Valley, Missouri, and Anthony Orrick from Blue Valley Southwest High School in Overland Park, Kansas, each received this honor after a strong performance by their respective teams this past week.

Grain Valley beat Oak Grove 7-0 to win its first Missouri River Valley Conference West title. The victory moves the Eagles to 6-3 to finish the regular season and marks their best record since 2009.

"It is a tremendous honor for our players and staff to be recognized by the Kansas City Chiefs," Allie said. "It is a tribute to the hard work, dedication and 'All 4 One' attitude they've shown this season. We humbly thank the Chiefs' organization for this award and for their support of high school football."

Blue Valley Southwest got their first win of the season over one of the best teams in the metro. The Timberwolves rallied to beat St. Thomas Aquinas who came in with only one loss and was ranked No. 2 in the state of Kansas in Class 5A. This honor means a lot for this program after a rough start to the season.

"This is a very special honor that really represents our players and coaches," Orrick said. "We haven't given up throughout the season and [our team] has kept working hard, believing in our system and each other. This award is a great representation of the resiliency of our program and players. I am so proud of our team and their efforts."

As a result of the award, both schools will receive a $500 grant. Additionally, both coaches will be presented with a congratulatory football autographed by Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid and a certificate recognizing their selection. Each recipient is now a finalist for their state's Chiefs Coach of the Year Award.

The 2016 High School Coach of the Week program is a joint initiative of the Kansas City Chiefs and the National Football League. This program is designed to recognize and reward Kansas City area high school coaches for superior performance on a weekly basis. The Chiefs Coach of the Week program is intended to honor individuals who are shaping today's youth and tomorrow's leaders.

A member of the Chiefs Community Caring Team will visit the winners this week for a special presentation to honor them at their respective schools. Each state's winner is selected in collaboration with PrepsKC. For more information on this week's winners and the Chiefs Coach of the Week program, visit www.chiefs.com or www.prepskc.com.
