Former Chiefs first rounder and two-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Dontari Poe practiced with the Chiefs on Sunday and will continue to do so this week, per head coach Andy Reid.
"He'll be [given] a limited number of reps," Reid said Monday afternoon. "We'll just monitor him. He went through our 10-10-10 [practice] yesterday and did well."
Poe, who missed all of training camp after receiving surgery on a herniated disk July 15, could even play in the Chiefs first regular season game this Sunday.
"He's on schedule to possibly have an opportunity to play against the Texans," Reid added. "We'll just see how he does here once he gets the pads on Wednesday. But he feels good. He felt good after yesterday's work. We'll see how things go and kind of take it day by day."
Jaye Howard had been receiving most of the first-team reps at defensive tackle in Poe's absence.
