The Kansas City Chiefs made another franchise-changing addition to their staff, introducing John Dorsey as the team's new general manager on Monday.

Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt described what enabled Dorsey to become the Chiefs sixth general manager in franchise history.

"John's outstanding track record as a talent evaluator and his experience helping to build a successful organization make him an ideal choice for our next general manager," Hunt said.

"He is a respected player personnel executive and a person of high integrity, who I believe will work very well with coach Reid. I'm excited to have both John and Andy on board to build our football team."

Prior to joining the Chiefs, Dorsey most recently served as the director – football operations for the Green Bay Packers (2012), which came after 12 years as the team's director of college scouting (2000-11).

Dorsey and Chiefs head coach Andy Reid worked together for the Packers, where Reid served as the tight ends/assistant offensive line coach (1992-96) prior to working with their quarterbacks (1997-98).

"I'm happy to be back working with John again," Reid said. "I've known John for a long time, and I have a lot of respect for him. He is a talented individual with a strong work ethic. He will be a great addition to the Chiefs organization."

How will Dorsey benefit the Chiefs? Among the many ways, his experience in the league as a player certainly will help. However, his wealth of knowledge as a collegiate scout and later as a front office executive will be drawn from right away by coach Reid and company, especially with the Senior Bowl, free agency, the Scouting Combine and the 2013 NFL Draft all taking place within the coming months.

Speaking of Dorsey's scouting skills, here is a list of just 10 of the players drafted by the Packers during our new GM's role as director of college scouting in Green Bay.

Dorsey is ready to work, motivated to bring the glory years back to Kansas City, as soon as possible.

"This is a terrific opportunity for me and my family," Dorsey said during his introductory press conference.

"The Chiefs are a remarkable franchise with a great fan base and I'm excited to join the team and community. I want to thank Clark and the entire Hunt family for the chance to help lead this franchise. I'm looking forward to working with coach Reid to put together a product that Chiefs fans can be proud of for years to come."
