Eighth-Annual GEHA Field at Arrowhead 5K Set for June 19; Event to Benefit YMCA of Greater Kansas City

Hybrid event allows registrants to run in-person or virtually

The Kansas City Chiefs and Arrowhead Events, the club's special events arm, are hosting the eighth-annual GEHA Field at Arrowhead 5K at 8 a.m. on Saturday, June 19. For the first time, the event will be a hybrid run/walk race, allowing participants the option to run in-person at the stadium or run virtually via the RaceJoy app on a route of their choice.

Runners and walkers who choose the in-person option will navigate their way through the parking lots around GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium and Kauffman Stadium before the race route will take them inside the home of the Chiefs to run through the concourse and around the field.

The virtual option gives participants throughout Chiefs Kingdom and around the world the ability to choose their own racecourse to complete the 5K by running or walking in their neighborhood, in a local park, on a nature trail, in their local gym or on their own treadmill.

Registration is now open at www.chiefs.com/arrowhead5k with two early registration discount periods available. Early-bird registration, which is open now through Monday, May 31 is $30 for Chiefs Season Ticket Members and $35 for the public. Pre-event registration will run from Tuesday, June 1 through Friday, June 18 and is $35 for Chiefs Season Ticket Members and $40 for the public. There will not be any on-site registration the day of the event. A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit the YMCA of Greater Kansas City.

Participants will be asked to select either the in-person or virtual race option at the time of registration. Virtual registrants will have race packets shipped via USPS on Wednesday, June 2, while in-person packet pick up will take place from noon to 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 17. Participants may change their race method at any point up until race packets are shipped. All participants will receive a 2021 GEHA Field at Arrowhead 5K t-shirt and bib as part of their race packet.

The post-race celebration will be virtual, with all participants encouraged to upload all their photos, videos and race results to the RaceJoy app and their social media accounts using #GEHAFieldatArrowhead5K to celebrate their completion of the race.

Celebrating its eighth year in 2021, the GEHA Field at Arrowhead 5K run/walk is designed to give fans the opportunity to experience a run/walk event that offers something no other race event in Kansas City offers – the chance for runners to race inside the stadium. Whether you run or walk, come in first or just run for fun, the GEHA Field at Arrowhead 5K is designed for everyone to enjoy.
