Food Drive Sunday at Arrowhead

On Sunday, the Chiefs Women's Organization, Farmland Foods and Harvesters will be collecting non-perishable items to help fight against hunger. Volunteers will be collecting items outside each stadium gate starting at 8:30a.m. There will also be Harvesters barrels around the stadium collecting items until kickoff.

Earlier this week, Chiefs employees donated non-perishable food items to Harvesters in bins located in the lobby of the administrative offices. Farmland was also onsite to make a donation of 40,000 pounds of ham to help feed the community.

The Chiefs partner with Harvesters throughout the year on events such as Lift Up America, which occurred earlier this month when more than 30,000 pounds of food was donated to local agencies. Lift Up America, Harvesters Community Food Network and the Chiefs Community Caring Team helped fight against hunger by distributing Tyson protein to local agencies within the Kansas City Community.

"It's something that has been a tradition for the Chiefs for the past ten years," Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt said. "We hope it blesses a lot of families."

Lift Up America is a nonprofit humanitarian aid movement that provides hope and opportunities to the less fortunate. They have paired up with Harvesters, which is a non-profit food collection and distribution company in the Kansas City area.

Over the last decade, as a direct result of this event's efforts, 1.4 million meals have been distributed to the Kansas City Community.

To continue providing meals for the community, bring a non-perishable food item to Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday. In exchange, Farmland will provide a free sample of bacon in Gates D and F.

Help the Chiefs and Harvesters continue to fight hunger in Kansas City on Sunday. Here is a list of items that Harvesters is in need of most:

·       Canned Vegetables

·       Canned Fruit

·       Boxed Meals (Hamburger Helper, Pasta Roni)

·       Canned Meat/Tuna

·       Peanut Butter

·       Canned Soup

·       Cereal – Hot and Cold
