Injury Update: DB Ashton Lampkin Likely Out for the Season

Lampkin tore his ACL in practice on Sunday

There was some unfortunate news following practice on Tuesday as Head Coach Andy Reid announced that rookie defensive back Ashton Lampkin suffered a torn ACL, likely ending his season. The injury occurred in practice on Sunday.

Lampkin, signed as an undrafted free agent out of Oklahoma State, played in all three of Kansas City's preseason games before the injury, recording three tackles.

Reid also provided an update on kicker Cairo Santos, who has yet to play this preseason with a groin injury.

"(Santos) came back and had a big kicking day on Sunday," Reid said. "He worked out really well and he felt good. There's a chance he does field goals in the game, but he won't do kickoffs. We'll just see how he does in warmups."

Linebackers Justin Houston and Derrick Johnson didn't practice on Tuesday, but were just taking a day to rest.

The Chiefs wrap up the preseason on Thursday at Arrowhead Stadium against the Tennessee Titans. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. CT on KCTV5 and 101.1 The Fox.
