Latest NFL Power Rankings Show Growing Respect for Chiefs

The experts have posted their takes, and they like the Chiefs

The experts around the league are really starting to believe in the Kansas City Chiefs, who made another substantial jump in the latest power rankings after their 30-14 victory over the Indianapolis Colts last Sunday.

After moving up two spots to No. 9 last week after their 27-21 win over the New Orleans Saints, the Chiefs climbed even higher after their impressive road win over the Colts.

According to the latest rankings from NFL media analyst Elliott Harrison of NFL.com, the Chiefs are now one of the top five teams in the NFL.

Harrison has the Chiefs ranked No. 4, saying of their game against the Colts, "By game's end, Andrew Luck's pocket was collapsing seemingly every play. Give quarterback Nick Foles a ton of credit: 16 of 22 for 223 yards and two touchdowns ain't bad for a guy a lot of people had written off. Or typed off."

To round out the AFC West, Harrison has the Denver Broncos at No. 3, the Oakland Raiders at No. 9 and the San Diego Chargers at No. 18.

It's not just NFL.com that's feeling good about the Chiefs, either.

Here are a few other publications and where they have the Chiefs ranked:

Yahoo Sports – No. 5 – Below is what Frank Schwab of Yahoo Sports had to say about the Chiefs:

"Dee Ford had 3.5 sacks on Sunday. If Justin Houston returns and looks like himself, the Chiefs are going to have a really nice pass-rushing duo. The Chiefs could make huge strides in the second half, and they're pretty good already."

Bleacher Report – No. 4 – Below is what Chris Simms of Bleacher Report said about the Chiefs:

"Alex Smith exited the game. Then he came back. Then he left it again. And Kansas City's dropback passing game was virtually unaffected.

"Of course, Reid has the luxury of turning to an experienced backup in Nick Foles. He also can turn to Charcandrick West when starter Spencer Ware succumbs to injury. We saw the full depth of Reid's offense, and few teams can match it.

"Kansas City's defense is just as impressive. Rookie Chris Jones and outside linebacker Dee Ford repeatedly pressured Andrew Luck on Sunday."

CBS Sports – No. 4 – Below is what Pete Prisco of CBS Sports had to say about the Chiefs:

"After their bye, they are 3-0. Andy Reid knows how to use that week to fix his team."
