The Kansas City Chiefs have several well-known and very productive players, like three-time Pro Bowl RB Jamaal Charles, who were selected in the third round of the NFL Draft. We continue our Chiefs draft history below, taking a look at the players selected in round three of the draft, during the last 20 years, including stats from their rookie seasons.

Allen Bailey was selected with the 86th pick in the 2011 draft.
P Dustin Colquitt was selected with the 99th pick in the 2005 draft.
RB Knile Davis was selected with the 95th pick in the 2013 draft.
LB Gary Stills was selected with the 75th pick in the 1999 draft.

2013 NFL Draft
TE Travis Kelce - 63rd overall
Kelce originally entered the league as the first of two Kansas City third-round draft selections (63rd overall) and signed with the team on 6/6/13. The first-year tight end missed a majority of the 2013 season, after being placed on IR with a knee injury.
RB Knile Davis - 96th overall
Davis appeared in 16 games (one start), posting 70 carries for 242 yards, with four touchdowns and 11 receptions for 75 yards. Davis had 10 kickoff returns for 321 yards (32.1 avg.), including a franchise-record 108-yard kickoff return for a touchdown and had one special teams tackle. He played extensively in one postseason contest, recording 18 carries for 67 yards, with one touchdown and caught seven passes for 33 yards and a receiving score.
2012 NFL Draft
OL Donald Stephenson - 74th overall
In his rookie season, Stephenson appeared in 16 games on special teams and ten on offense, including seven starts.
2011 NFL Draft
LB Justin Houston - 70th overall
Houston played in 16 games with 10 starts at left outside linebacker and was named the club's Mack Lee Hill Award winner, an honor bestowed on Kansas City's top rookie or first-year player, becoming the ninth linebacker in team history to win the award and the first since LB Derrick Johnson in 2005. Houston recorded 70 tackles (63 solo), including 12 for loss, 5.5 sacks (-27.5 yards), a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, 12 QB pressures and four passes defensed. Houston also had six special teams stops. Justin recorded 10 solo tackles, including three TFLs, a career-high three sacks, a forced fumble, three QB pressures and a pass defensed at Chicago (12/4). His three sacks tied for the highest single-game total by a rookie in Chiefs history.
DL Allen Bailey - 86th overall
Bailey played in 16 contests on special teams and 14 contests on defense, recording seven tackles (five solo), including one for loss, one sack, six QB pressures, a fumble recovery and two passes defensed. Bailey also had one kickoff return for four yards and one special teams tackle. He posted his first-two career tackles at Indianapolis (10/9). Bailey recorded a fumble recovery and a four-yard kickoff return at New England (11/21) and logged his first-career sack on QB Aaron Rodgers vs. Green Bay (12/18).
2010 NFL Draft
G/C Jon Asamoah - 68th overall
Asamoah appeared in 16 games on special teams and seven contests on offense with one start at RG. He played in the club's jumbo package and on special teams vs. San Francisco (9/26) and at Indianapolis (10/10). Asamoah saw action as a tackle eligible in the team's AFC Wild Card Game vs. Baltimore (1/9/11).
TE Tony Moeaki - 93rd overall
Moeaki started 15 games at TE, recording 47 receptions for 556 yards and three TDs. His 47 catches were the highest total by a rookie tight end in Chiefs history. Moeaki collected four catches for 44 yards with an 18-yard TD to earn NFL Rookie of the Week honors vs. San Francisco (9/26).
2009 NFL Draft
DE Alex Magee - 67th overall
Magee played in 15 games, during his rookie season, including one start. He finished the year with six tackles, two assists, two sacks, four QB hurries and one TFL.
2008 NFL Draft
The Chiefs had three third-round picks in the '08 draft, two (Charles & Morgan) came as part of the team's trade of DE Jared Allen to the Minnesota Vikings.
Jamaal Charles - 73rd overall
Played in 16 games (two starts) and had 67 carries for 357 yards (5.3 avg.) and 27 catches for 272 yards (10.1 avg.) with a TD. Jamaal also had 15 kickoff returns for 321 yards (21.4 avg.) and four special teams tackles. He ranked fifth among AFC rookies with 357 rushing yards.
TE Brad Cottam - 76th overall
In 2008, Cottam played in 16 games (seven starts) and caught seven passes for 63 yards.
S DaJuan Morgan - 82nd overall
Morgan played in 15 games, during his rookie campaign, finishing with 14 tackles, two assists and one TFL.
2007 NFL Draft
The Chiefs received the St. Louis Rams third-round selection (82nd overall), as part of the deal that sent WR Dante Hall and the Chiefs original third-round pick (84th overall) to the Rams.
DT DeMarcus Tyler - 82nd overall
In 2007, Tyler played in 15 games (one start) and recorded eight tackles and three assists.
2006 NFL Draft
QB Brodie Croyle - 85th overall
Croyle's rookie season included two games played, three completions for 23 yards and two INTs.
2005 NFL Draft
The Chiefs sent their original third-round pick (77th overall) to Philadelphia in the 2004 T John Welbourn trade and drafted Dustin Colquitt with their compensatory selection for 2004 free agent losses.
P Dustin Colquitt - 99th overall
Colquitt appeared in 16 games, punting 65 times for 2,564 yards (39.4 gross, 35.2 net) with 27 landing inside the 20-yard line and five touchbacks. He had eight punts of 50-plus yards and also had two special teams tackles.

LB Keyaron Fox - 93rd overall
Fox played in 12 games, during his rookie season.
2003 NFL Draft
The Chiefs traded their original third-round pick (78th overall) to New Orleans for T Willie Roaf and obtained a third-round pick from the Pittsburgh Steelers (92nd overall), coming as part of a trade that included the Chiefs first-round selection (16th overall).
CB Julian Battle - 92nd overall
In 2003, Battle played in 14 games and finished with four tackles and one PBU and also saw action in the team's playoff game vs the Colts.
2002 NFL Draft
The Chiefs traded their original third-round pick (75th overall) as part of a deal that landed Kansas City with the sixth-overall pick of the draft (Ryan Sims). KC obtained a third-round pick (84th overall) from Washington in compensation for head coach Marty Schottenheimer, subsequently sent to St. Louis in compensation for Dick Vermeil.

The Chiefs obtained their third-round pick (Minnis) from Washington in compensation for head coach Marty Schottenheimer.
DT Eric Downing - 75th overall
In 2001, Downing played in 15 games (nine starts) and recorded 13 tackles, six assists, 1.5 sacks and one PBU.
WR Marvin Minnis - 77th overall
During 2001, Minnis played in 13 games (11 starts) and caught 33 passes for 511 yards and one TD.
2000 NFL Draft
S Greg Wesley - 85th overall
Wesley played in all 16 games, during his rookie season, including 16 starts and finished with 69 tackles, 16 assists, one sack, two INTs, seven PBUs, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.
1999 NFL Draft
The Chiefs obtained Miami's third-round pick (Atkins) and a 2000 sixth-round pick for the Chiefs second-round pick (43rd overall).
LB Gary Stills - 75th overall
Stills played in two games, during his rookie season.
S/LB Larry Atkins - 84th overall
During his rookie campaign, Atkins played in nine games.
1998 NFL Draft
RB Rashaan Shehee - 88th overall
Shehee played in all 16 games in 1998 and recorded 22 rushes for 57 yards, 10 receptions for 73 yards and recorded four kickoff returns for 72 yards.
1997 NFL Draft
The Chiefs traded away their original third-round pick (81st overall) as part of a package deal that went to Houston for its first-round pick that landed TE Tony Gonzalez in KC.
1996 NFL Draft
Obtained New England's third-round pick (Browning) in exchange for the Chiefs '95 fourth-round pick.
DT John Browning - 68th overall
In 1996, Browning played in 13 games (two starts) and finished with 17 tackles, four assists, two sacks, one PBU and one forced fumble.
1995 NFL Draft
WR Tamarick Vanover - 81st overall
Vanover finished 1995 with 15 games, six rushes for 31 yards and 11 receptions for 231 yards and two TDs. He also logged 51 punt returns for 540 yards and one TD, as well as 43 kickoff returns for 1,095 and two TDs. He played in one playoff game in '95, returning four punts for 34 yards and two kickoff returns for 45 yards.
LB Troy Dumas - 97th overall
Dumas played in six games, during his rookie season.
1994 NFL Draft
WR Lake Dawson - 92nd overall
Dawson played in 12 games (six starts), finishing with three carries for 24 yards, as well as 37 receptions for 537 yards, two TDs and recorded one fumble recovery.
WR Chris Penn - 96th overall
Penn finished '94 with eight games played, three receptions for 24 yards and nine kickoff returns for 194 yards.
1993 NFL Draft
G Will Shields - 74th overall
Shields played in 16 games (15 starts), during his rookie season, which was the beginning of a brilliant 14-year career. Shields played in 224 regular season games (223 starts) with Kansas City ('93-06); his 224 games played with the Chiefs ranks first in team history, while his 223 starts are also the top mark in franchise annals. His 14 seasons played for the Chiefs tie him for second-most in team history.
