Phil Lite and Dwayne Williams Names Chiefs High School Coaches of the Week

The Kansas City Chiefs have announced the recipients of the Missouri and Kansas High School Coach of the Week awards for week six. Phil Lite from Staley High School in Kansas City, Missouri, and Dwayne Williams from F.L. Schlagle High School in Kansas City, Kansas, each received this honor after a strong performance by their respective teams this past week.

Staley received a big win over previously undefeated Kearney 28-10. The Falcons moved to 6-2 on the season handing the No. 1 team in Class 4 its first loss of the season. Lite said this was an honor for his entire program.

"On behalf of the Staley Falcon Football Program it is a great honor to be recognized by the Kansas City Chiefs organization as Coach of the Week," Lite said. "In my eyes, this award is more of a team accomplishment and I feel very blessed to be surrounded by outstanding players and assistant coaches who put in countless hours of hard work into our program. Thank you to Staley Nation, the Kansas City Chiefs and PrepsKC."

Williams led Schlagle to its third straight win with a 70-8 victory over rival Sumner. The Stallions are now 5- 1 on the season. Schlagle's coach passed the congratulations on to the rest of his staff.

"This award is a reflection of the hard work my coaching staff put in during the offseason," Williams said. "The dedication and passion that they've made to make this a successful situation for the kids in this program has spoken volumes."

As a result of the award, both schools will receive a $500 grant. Additionally, both coaches will be presented with congratulatory footballs autographed by Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid and a certificate recognizing their selection. Each recipient is now a finalist for their state's Chiefs Coach of the Year Award.

Prior to this week's awards, Mike Sharp from Park Hill South High School in Riverside, Missouri, and Dustin Delaney from Shawnee Mission East High School in Prairie Village, Kansas, were named Chiefs Coaches of the Week during the bye week. Visit Chiefs.com/community/index.html to learn more.
