Facts and stats from Sunday night's game against the Panthers

SUCCOP TIES CAREER-LONG FIELD GOAL:K Ryan Succop converted a 54-yard field goal in the first quarter of tonight's game. The 54-yard kick conversion ties his career-long for any game (preseason, regular season or postseason), which he set vs. Minnesota on Oct. 2, 2011, a game in which he made all five field goals he attempted. Succop added a 25-yard field goal in tonight's contest for a total of six points in the game.

SANTOS CONNECTS FOR POINTS: Rookie K Cairo Santos converted a 44-yard field goal and one PAT for four points in tonight's contest.

MURRAY THROWS TOUCHDOWN PASS:Rookie QB Aaron Murray connected with TE Travis Kelce on his first passing attempt of the game for a 43-yard touchdown. The touchdown pass came on just his second preseason attempt and marked his first completion of the 2014 preseason. Murray finished the game with five completions on nine attempts for 81 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

KELCE GRABS ANOTHER SCORE:TE Travis Kelce hauled in a 43-yard touchdown reception from QB Aaron Murray, his second touchdown reception in as many weeks. He caught a 67-yard touchdown from QB Chase Daniel vs. Cincinnati (8/7/14) in the club's first preseason game of the 2014 season. Kelce led all Chiefs players in receiving yards with 63 yards on four receptions (15.8 avg.). In the preseason, he now has six receptions for 136 yards (22.7 avg.) with two touchdowns.

CHIEFS DEFENSE HOLDS PANTHERS OFFENSE IN FIRST QUARTER:The Chiefs defense forced Carolina into three three-and-outs on the Panthers' first three drives of the game, all coming in the first quarter.

ABDULLAH DISRUPTS IN BACKFIELD:S Husain Abdullah sacked QB Cam Newton for a 13-yard loss in the first quarter. Abdullah recorded a 0.5 sack in 2013 for the Chiefs vs. Oakland on Oct. 13.

OWENS RECORDS QB TAKEDOWN:CB Chris Owens recorded a five-yard sack of QB Derek Anderson in the second quarter. Owens has 3.5 career sacks (-15.5 yards) in regular season action.

MAYS RECORDS SACK:LB Joe Mays dropped QB Cam Newton for a six-yard sack in the second quarter. It marks Mays' second sack in as many weeks as he sacked QB Jason Campbell for a seven-yard loss last week vs. Cincinnati (8/7/14).

WALKER, FORD COMBINE FOR SACK:DL Vance Walker and LB Dee Ford combined for a nine-yard sack of QB Joe Webb. The half-sack marks the first QB takedowns recorded by each player in a Chiefs uniform.

BOWE LEADS PASS CATCHERS:WR Dwayne Bowe hauled in five passes for 62 yards (12.4 avg.) to lead all Chiefs pass catchers in receptions.

GRAY LEADS RUSHING CHARGE: RB Cyrus Gray led all Kansas City ball carriers with 10 rushes for 44 yards (4.4 avg.) It marks the second-consecutive week that Gray led all rushers after recording 11 carries for 59 yards (5.4 avg.) vs. Cincinnati (8/7/14).

NICO JOHNSON LEADS ALL TACKLERS: LB Nico Johnson got credit for six tackles (three solo) in tonight's contest to lead all Chiefs defenders.

COLQUITT PUTS PUNTS INSID­­E 20:P Dustin Colquitt punted five times for 195 yards (39.0 gross, 38.8 net), landing three punts inside the 20-yard line. Colquitt holds the Chiefs all-time record with 285 punts inside the 20, more than twice as many as the next closest player in team history (Louie Aguiar, 117).

PAIR OF ROOKIES MAKE SECOND STARTS OF PRESEASON:Rookie G Zach Fulton and rookie S Daniel Sorensen each started today's game, marking the second consecutive game that the rookies have started.
